do units like robert have to be placed on the map or just in the team to get the bonus?

No
on a further note, those units usually gain an extra % when AW, like Cuterie, goes from 2% to 4% after AW, i guess Robert acts the same

Rule of the thumb is: Unless it is explictly mentioned, abilities work by just having a unit in team with you.

I imagine it is unlikely but do additional copies of the same drop rate boosting unit stack when carried in the same team.

Think about it..make a team of 15 Robert and get 45% more chance to get trust items...

you don't actually feel it, but the extra % really matters

I mean I can get how the fairy drop chance would help cause rainbows and blacks so low as it is. But like running phalax 2 I don't notice any difference to my normal drops in affection items

If you go from 1% to 3% (or to 5% after AW) that's 300% more probable than before (or 500%) so THAT will be more noticeable than going from 30% to 32%, it's not even a 10% better chance
but since those are chances you want every little % you can stack, because with chances you can do thousands of runs and not get any drop at all, you still have 68% chances of failling at it dropping

Those are just random number to exemplify my point

TL;DR if initial % is low any extra % is noticeable, if initial % is high a small extra % won't be noticed

Having a look at the drop rates only ones really worth using is spirit, trust and demon crystals. The affection ones already have such a high drop rate that 2% really makes no difference apart from over a long time

except you actually need more affection items than trust items, so you actually benefit more from aff item+ than trust item+ in the long run. also in DMM aigis the drop rate was recently boosted, and on top of that you can stack it with a thief (AW/pre-AW) to push it further up to possibly more than +10%

Yeah but I mean in terms of affecteness. Affection drop rate is only good in the long run but you never actually see the results straight up aha

Look at it this way: missing that +2% means there's (on the average) 200 diamonds you didn't get running that mission 10000 times over the course of your career XD
