    Any Newbie Tips?

So been playing the game off and on over the years, and finally decided to start playing seriously. Just have a quick question or two I'd like answered.

1). It appears to be extremely difficult to actually level your units. To this extent, am I right in assuming the only way to actually level them effectively is to wait until the armor/fairy daily quests roll around and attempt to farm the crap out of them? Getting to the point my current team isn't really powerful enough to continue the story missions (currently stuck on Return to Ruins; even YouTube videos ain't enough to see me through).

2). Tying in to #1, affection is just as important as leveling obviously; should I save what SC I have for Skyfallen Daily on Wednesday? I would assume so, but figure it wont hurt for clarification. And I'm also assuming that archers/healers/maybe soldiers should also have a higher priority when giving gifts.

3). This is my current team. They've carried me quite far for the moment, and I'm pretty sure most of my problem right now stems from not having sufficient unit level and affection bonuses.

These are all of the units I currently have, or the ones that are important anyway. Lot of what I have are extra silver units, as I hear its a bad idea to use those for exp fodder as they are used in evolution. I also have a Fallen Angel Sophie that you can't see (she's still level 1), and while her heal seems to be nice I simply don't seem to ever use her, so I replaced her with the silver rogue.

Anything else I might have missed? Really bummed out that I'm going to miss the majority of this event (really want Noel at least), but the way I see it there isn't much I can do. Even trying to work on my team every day I'm not going to have units powerful enough to complete two more missions to get Noel.

I suggest using Leeanne as your main tank and Bernard as you secondary tank.

You want units that is capable of taking a heavy hit or two.

You also want a secondary healer because one priest looking after seven units will have a hard time when two priests can look after six units easier.

Alissa, Dorca, Christopher. Make use of them.

Thanks for the reply. I do have Iris as a secondary healer in addition to Robert (his higher health lets him take more hits from ranged more efficiently than other healers). Is Iris good enough as a secondary healer or should I explicitly use the ones you mentioned?

I do see your point on the tanks; up until this point I've been using my Bandit/Monk/Assassin as tanks when I need them. Taking a closer look at it, for the moment I'll bench Sabine and Lilia for now. I don't think those two will see much use until I really start to move on to events/harder endgame content. By that time my soldiers should be CC and should be able to take over the tank slots, as long as I'm not facing a map where heavy armor is a must. I've gotta remind myself that having a couple of heroes for specific fights are a thing.

    1) I wouldn't bother with the dailies until you can complete the H missions, the drop rate is just too low. IIRC Pastoral Gate is the mission that gives the most unit XP/charisma early on.

    2) If you're a free player i suggest saving your SC for things that are harder to get than affection items; you can farm them anytime from challenge quests. Even if you're paying there's better thing to spend them on.

    3) In addition, to what Ericridge said, I don't see either Katie or Cloris on your team. Get them, level them.

Don't panic yet; you still have a bit over a week to get Noel.
If near the end of the next week you're still just barely short of completing maps 4/5 and you're willing to spend the SC, consider buying shrine boosts to give you enough of an advantage to 1* the maps.

And thank you for your own reply. I do agree with you about Pastoral Gate, but most of my units are already level 30. Feeding them irons and bronzes is nothing but a waste of gold, isn't it? Considering it takes 6 irons alone to even go up by a single level. I'm not sure I believe that veteran players farmed a map or two for weeks on end to even get a single unit to level 50 and ready to CC (Although I suppose I can be wrong. I've certainly dealt with a fair number of games that are nothing but grind on end).

In regards to farming affection items I think my biggest gripe is simply that you get 12 stamina. Period. That's it. And you use that stamina for over half of the game's activities. Wish you would get at least +1 when you level, or at least refill them when you level. Challenge quests, daily quests, events, don't matter. You run maybe 3-4 missions with your stamina, and then you're done for the day. Maybe I should have started out at DMM instead of here; seems like DMM version knows what's up. Oh well.

I do have Katie and Cloris, but passed them up for other soldiers and mages. Guess I'll try them out some time.

Well, Alissa, Christopher, and Dorca is silver healers so by default they're automatically cheaper to summon than both of your gold healers. Might be more helpful on some maps where UP Is very tight early on.

Plus Heavy Armors can grab three mobs and keep them on him/her. Awakened Heavy Armors is at 4.

Well.. Sabinne is a ranged melee unit that targets enemy unit's magic resist instead of physical defense. She certainly will have her uses on maps where ranged spots is limited and you want even more dps in that specific spot of map.

Lilia is a princess which means she's a duelist class that can ignore enemy defense. That's about it for her. I haven't used very much in area of princesses so I can't really say anything. My Themis is still bit too squishy at base 60 for the point of storyline where I"m at.

I only do Pastoral Gate for Gold when their units no longer give meaningful amount of experience points. Generally, best iron/bronzes for leveling up your units with is the hardest map you cleared. The higher level the iron/bronze is the better exp they give.

Alot of experience for my units come from irons/bronzes of Fiery Oasis now.

    About stamina, check attachment.

For madz amount of gold coins. Try to get your units strong enough to do H difficulty Daily missions that' shows up every Monday. Gives good amount of gold. Less than that isn't really worth it. Before I could do H difficulty Monday Gold daily, I grinded for gold in Pastoral Gate until I had like 100k and spent it all leveling and then grind again. Nowdays I don't do it anymore cuz its boring. If I run out of gold I sell the units I get in Fiery Oasis. H difficulty Gold monday daily can give you like 150k-250k gold every Monday. Rng depending. Maybe some Platinum Armor if you're lucky.

Katie only got mentioned because she's pretty durable gold soldier with good amount of defense and is a UP Generator.

Cloris, she's a witch and their ice spells have ability to slow enemy units down.

As for affection with ladies, make your way through the Challenge Quests until you can clear Phalanx 2 reliably.
That map drops bouquet, opal, 2x rubies, 1x gold fairy, 1x platinum fairy.

If you want to see what my team looks like, its pretty generic and probably can do take on all comers but will need to switch units out for specific maps. Check 2nd attachment for it. Nothing that fancy in it.

So at least I can get like, 6 extra stamina points. I guess that's something, haha. I'm not exactly hurting for gold at the moment (sitting at almost 200k), but I hear horror stories of the 40-50 leveling costs, so figured I'd need to save up early. Basically it just comes down to farming the highest map you've cleared for exp fodder. I think I can manage that much. At least we have the commission thingy to instantly clear a 3 star map.

    1) I did almost the same for leveling up as you do, and it did hurt my Gold income, what I did was mostly sell all irons and use the bronze to level up, at one point this will be like natural to do because of the gold difference. I would suggest you check Lafate's thread of Frequently Asked Questions for a general idea of where to farm for specific things.

You'll be starting to move to different missions later on, it's just about patience.

    2) The best way of farming affection, for your female units at the very least, is doing the Challenge Missions, as well as for fairies of different rarities.

    3) As others have suggested, it is a good idea that you get Katie and Cloris, they will be good staples for some time on your team, specially Katie given that she refunds her own cost at base class, and when CC'ed, she gives you a good 15 UP. Lilia could be a good investment as a duelist, namely because she deals magic based damage and she can dish some good damage to enemies you find hard to kill on your way. Bernard and Leeanne will be your main tanks, investing on them on the long road will be a good choice until you get either Bernice or Gellius. For archers, Bashira will be a great attacker, as she is right now she shoots 2 arrows on her skill time, CC'ed she will shoot 3 which she can put to great use, being a Platinum unit though she will be little bit expensive (because she uses only silvers), Claire is a bit cheaper (she uses 2 Irons and 1 Silver) and she focuses on increasing her damage.

I guess that's all I could give as advice, hope you find it useful ^^

Does it make any difference what units we have? I followed the guides I found and then got stuck at a certain point. My entire topic revolved around, "What now?"

As for RuneKnight, all of the advice present to me so far has been helpful. My only complaint is how dedicated to this game you have to be. I have a habit of getting bored with games that require a crap-load of grinding, and I'm pretty sure this is exactly what's going to happen here. From what I gather it'll take me close to six months to a year just to get all of my team CC'd, let alone Awakened. That's an awful tall order for a game that doesn't have much of a pay off UNTIL you reach that point where you've got a strong CC'd/Awakened team. I guess I should be grateful that this game and its developers are still alive, at least. I ended up spending a lot of time with Kanpani Girls (which is even more grindy than this one), and the game is dead. No news updates from developers, haven't had an event since this past spring.

Guess I'll just see how it goes.
