Lightbulb The Feng Shui Master and the Crimson Cult event guide

Good timeofaday, brave Princes! It is that time of a week, and finally it is the time for an Item Collection event! Hope you still have some chocolate / eggs left in your stash, because...
It is time to settle the fight between The Feng Shui Master and the Crimson Cult!

    Event runs: 2017-05-30 to 2017-06-13

    Rewards
This is an Item Collection event. Farm up as many event items from maps as possible to reach milestones to upgrade the copy of event unit you'll get in the end

Introducing the Feng Shui Master Pippin, a Platinum rarity, Feng-Shuist. Her class is pretty much must-have, between ability to heal 2 (3 post-awakening) units at the same time and terrain effect reduction lessening the severity of HP losses from poison and heat and shortening duration of bad weather, so maxing her out is a priority, right? Well... yes and no. Thing is, Pippin herself is weaker one among Feng Shui users, matching Gold rarity Shrine one in power and with skill that reduces the number of simultaneously healed targets in exchange for more than doubling her power. So, before Awakening her skill turns her into a Priestess with lower range, and only after Awakening she retains her multi-healing, reduced from 3 to 2. Said Awakening gives her passive buffing all Feng Shui Users' attack by 5% and skill duration by 20%, but one rarely run multiple Feng-Shuists, if ever, so most of time it is a nice self-buff. Her Skill Awakening is weird, as it turns her into a rather powerful Archer with exchanging healing for attacking one enemy, tripled attack, increased by one-and-half range, and faster attack speed, briefly (10 seconds duration, 20 seconds cooldown). That certainly adds a versatility to Pippin, but you are giving up healing increase for that, so consideration is necessary here.
So, definitely a must-have unit for any player who don't have any Shrine Feng-Shuist, but most likely only a collection value for those who do have them. Still, just look at this fluffy tail cosplay!

Even if she's not an event reward, she's still new, so...
Introducing the Royal Guard Alicia, the first, Platinum rarity, Royal Guard. Hers is the special class (meaning, comes pre-evolved but takes two sets of orbs to awaken) that in some ways aims to be a Heavy Infantry killer for team composition, as Royal Guards have comparable defense, have good survivability boosters on their skill and even regenerate HP on themselves later on, with additional rebalance patch. Blocking only 2 enemies compared to Heavies' 4 can be an advantage when you have them tank especially nasty enemy, as to not get overwhelmed by adds. Anyway, Alicia in particular have vaulted Increase Defense IV and boosts all spear wielders' (royal guards, valkyries, pegasus riders and dragon riders) attack and defence by 5% upon Awakening. Skill Awakening ups the defense multiplier to x3, extends same x3 to attack and keeps it up for the whole minute, all at the cost of attack speed decrease and massive initial wait and cooldown. She can only be obtained by spending $14 (1400 Nutaku Gold), but for that price comes with 14 SC, 300 DC and 30 Diamonds. Well worth every cent. After all, who can say no Anna's imouto?!)

And last but not least, our new Shrine Black...

Introducing the Moon Shadow Bow Cavalry Rion, the DPS queen. Well, not quite as much at the moment, but in the future, definitely) She is a Black rarity Bowrider, a melee-slot ranged unit with cavalry's usual better refund on withdrawal and aversion to blocking (reduced attack) and wielder of legendary Quad Shot! Her initial passive reduces all cavalry (bowriders/valkyries/pegasus riders/dragon riders) cost by 1. Awakening upgrades that to -2 cost, and grants cavalry's usual full refund on withdrawal, as well as mitigates aversion to just 70% attack on blocked unit (oh, and makes arrows fly faster). But her real shining point is her Skill Awakening. Why? SEPTUPLE SHOT! Yes, you read that correctly, seven arrows in each attack! And now place a Dancer in range... So bust your wallets and whale hard B)

    Comments about the event
A proper Item Collection event at last! And for Feng Shui user, a key to combat terrain and weather challenges and class every player should strive to have! As always, higher the map difficulty, better the item payoff, and if you want to perfect the unit, you will have to cough up quite a number of Sacred Crystals or leftover treats. Of course, there's always a valid choice to aim only for 1100 items instead of 1400-1500, for CR-4, or even for 700, for CR-3. Another interesting points of decision are: do you want a steady guaranteed increase in bone fragment numbers, or willing to risk playing RNG drop roulette for substantially higher reward? Or maybe you you just want to grind silvers and fodder?
Anyway, in the guaranteed corner we have "The Ninja and the Bandits" with its 15 fragments for 80/9, and "Evil Conspiracy" with 13 fragments for 70/8. Ninja one wins in both fragment count (1.667 per stamina) and fodder (tin can and DCx2), and feature Ricardo as a silver drop. But it is more annoying, with ninjas and all. Conspiracy offers 1.625/sta fragment income and Ruby, with side dish of Misha.
Gamble corner is populated with G-tier "Demon Worshipers" with whopping 26 fragments possible for whopping 90/12, and "Bone Power of the Demon Lord" with respectable 16 possible fragments for only 50/7. Later one actually wins out, with 2.29 fragments per stamina point at max, and offering Platinum Spirit (and Giovanni), but 90/12, that offers 2.17 fragments at max and additional Rainbow Spirit, is supposed to gave better drop rates. You can alway bring your Thief along for buffing the rates, as long as your team can handle powered-up enemies.

On the event itself, most maps feature crimson fog weather effect, that robs you out of a full range and speeds up enemy walking speed from time to time, so adjust accordingly. Enemy composition is varied, from magic-throwing cultists to dark elves avengers and their pet chimeras to demons and ninjas... Best bring a good physical attackers with a dash of magic specifically to deal with that pesky dodgy shinobi on their map. If your team can handle it, Leda boost the drop rate for items and so very worth to bring along.

On a silver farming front, here's a run-down of possible drops:

There's also tin can on map 5 and 6, Celia (the Platinum Spirit) on map 4 and Christia on map 9, so good luck!

Thank you for yet another guide ZeroZet. Small question, isn't Alicia the first Royal Guard we got? Shouldn't she be in the "Other" tab then? Or is she not there because she's not part of the event but a coincidence that she got introduced now?

    Premium Summons Luck!!

Holy cow, i've been playing this game for about a year and haven't spent any SC on premium summons. Just got back to back black rarity Deine and Rion!!

Thanks a ton for the guides, they are really helpful and I look for them on every event. Cheers and good luck everyone!

Thank you for the guide! Beautiful work as always and I personally appreciate the comments you give for each unit, it really helps to understand them and their use.

Can't say I am going to go mad trying to perfect Pippin, not even for the sake of cuteness. She does not seem like a unit you would field early so even min-costing her would take a backseat from me trying to get other units done. I also really dislike her skill awakening despite how powerful it is. Any SAW (or even skill in some cases) that over rides a units' inherent class characteristics is a fault for me. Sort of like how Samurai can attack multiple blocked units but certain SAW's drop their block to one, kind of defeats what makes them special in the first place.

Lastly Alicia. Ah Alicia, the unit I will never get along side Sapphires. Breaks a collectors heart it does.

I've never really understood such lines of thinking. Block number can be a double edged sword and the ability to gate monsters by shedding blockers without the inefficiency of withdraw & redeploy is actually pretty hax. Shizuka in particular is really good at using her SAW to pick fights and solo lanes with minimal healing support.

  7. #7
I suppose it depends on each persons play style. True it can be of use quite well, but my line of thinking would be, why not place a strong duelist instead?
I should note that I am far from a skilled player and I used Samurai as an example. A lot of this is still in the hypothetical scenario for me. Hopefully for not too long.

On the subject of Shizuka though, if you shed blockers, how does priority work? Which enemy is allowed to pass and which stays?

Acually , i tend to agree with you on that point. I kinda preffer specialized units over versatile units. I mean , there are some good ones , like shiho , but thats mostly because her saw lets her be either a permanent witch or permanent healer.... Still , there aren't that many great dual class-like units IMO

  10. #10
My views exactly. Dual class units tend to be hit or miss, especially when SAW is considered. My favourite though has to be Priest Warriors. Passive healing and blocking enemies? Yes please!

It's a bit of a double-edged sword when you think about it. Niche units shine when needed but are not very useful at other times, Avengers are notorious for this.

Versatile units can fill more roles but they won't be as good as units devoted to those attributes. Even my favourite Priest Warriors, they're great when I need them and am low on range slots but they won't be as good as a regular Healer which is why I don't take them in at all times.

At the end of the day it's really the situation that dictates the units that you need. Sometimes you need versatility, others you need specialization.
