Is there any additional effects while wearing a full outfit? I've got the whole pirate rare set, but wearing them all isn't better than what I usually keep equipped. I'm still holding the pieces in inventory just in case. Maybe it has some effect on pirates?

No, right now there's no actual bonus for equipment set.
