Good timeofaday, brave Princes! T'was eventful beginning of a month, with our first non-NewYear Gold Rush and continued Domination and all, and only thing that would be better continuation is a Star Trial event! And for the member of an entirely new class at that! And indeed it is here!
So let's witness the story of The Dark Priest and the Pagan Altar!

This is a Star Trial event. You will obtain event unit after event ends if you scored well enough during it's duration. Unit's level, skill level and cost depends on the number of stars you managed clear event maps for.

Introducing the Black Priestess Verdinate a Platinum (NOT Black!) rarity Dark Priest. Her class is a healer-attacker hybrid that attacks enemies with magic when they are in range and heals ally units when cost is clear. Their skill allows them to attack and heal at the same time, healing ally for the same amount as their attack damages the enemy. Verdinate's particular skill flavor adds range extension to the mix. Awakening gives her a healbomb, healing all allies by 700 on placement, and, as class feature, makes her immune to stat halving in Makai/Hell maps. Skill Awakening (even if it was very recent affair on DMM side so most likely a very far future even from introduction of SAW feature itself, whenever it happens) turns her into poor man's Elyse, by exchanging range up for granting all allies in range x1.7 defense. Damaging healing stays as it is) Both Skill and SAW have rather poor uptime (20s/45s for skill and 40s/95s for SAW) and damage-to-healing portion means that if she targets enemy with MR on it her healing suffers, Dark Priesthood attack speed is a bit slower than healers' and range is only slightly wider than non-ClassEvolved healer (and so, noticeably less than of Class Evolved healer) but still, she is rather interesting unit to try out.

This Star Trial so expect some trouble) In particular, this event is your first glimpse to the world of Majins, even if by the form of their Kin (servant demons), and your introduction to new long-standing enemy, Demon Lord Belzebuth ('s cult), so get comfortable with them. As expected of demon-themed evnt, MR is rampant all around (cultists themselves have whopping 50%), so grab you best physical setup. Special mention goes to the damnable flies - Belzebuth setvants - for they have dam' tough composite armor (800 def AND 50% MR) and bring nasty, nasty diabolic aura around them, that makes all affected units lose most of their attack (-70%!) and receive continous damage (-60 HP / s). Snipe them from afar before they can spread the devastation, or you'll regret starting the map!)

Awakened Ability: Dark Dyed Blade: Attack speed decreases slightly, but normal attack has a chance to instantly kill the enemy (10%). Also increases assassination rate of Sword Skill to 90%.
Awakened Skill (NI): Hidden Secret Skill: Lightless Perfect Killing Sword : Instant; attack x3.4, attacks up to 6 enemies in range (300) with two ranged sword waves that has high chance of instantly killing them (90%). WT: 17.5; CT: 35.
* A Shrine version of Platinum rarity Swordmaster who will prove Shrine superiority by being THE source of reliable assasinations. 90% instant death skill gives her a reasonable chance to vaporise even the tougher mid-bosses who have resistance to gibbing. And with rather short cooldown of 30 s you may be spamming her skill on every other wave!) 10% killing normal attack is a perfect icing on thata deadly cake :D




New Classes Being Introduced

Did this event as a revival on DMM, and damn I forgot how I hate those blasted cult members! Honestly I don't know which enemy units I hate more, cults or assassins.

Only got 22 of the 27 stars, not bad but not very good either. The normal enemy units are fine but as in life I am consistently foiled by those cursed bugs. If only there was some form bug-spray...

Anyway though, I got Verdinate who is both good and pretty and I'm happy with that!

When I saw Verdinate on the news screen, I thought, "Wow, she looks pretty nice... I must acquire as many stars as I can!" The last time I was this interested in acquiring an event unit for such reasons was... Rita? Guess I have a thing for black-haired girls with darkness-based powers... no surprise there!

That aside, I'm really interested in trying her out on the battlefield as well. Her abilities seem interesting, and I'll see if I can find a place on my team for her. That being said, this event looks like it'll be no joke... my first 1-star was Black Ceremony, and I'm not looking forward to trying to 3-star the even more difficult maps...

I 3*'d Demonic Beasts on my first try blind, but Last Battle fucked me hard. I was close on my second try, then waited a day for my charisma to recover, only for me to fail ~8 more times before I got it. So much can go wrong in that opening, and then one of the flies constantly leaks through. I suppose it's my fault for relying on Berna to dodge scythe blasts and using Nanaly to challenge Verdinate.

Once I finally put Charlotte in the right place at the right time, it seemed to go well.

That aside, I'm really interested in trying her out on the battlefield as well. Her abilities seem interesting, and I'll see if I can find a place on my team for her.


I wouldn't expect too much from her prior to SAW, tbh. Until then she's kinda weird in that her dps isn't very impressive and her range waffles between Despara tier and 20 seconds of "lol, I'm a pirate!". Her best use is probably to be deployed as part of a shooting gallery setup where you only have minimal blockers and make heavy use of characters burly enough to win shoot outs with enemy ranged units like Fran and Elizabeth. That way she spends most of her time as dps before eventually using her skill to reach back and provide tank support.

I did only 1 star Forest of the Demonic beasts. My few blacks or shrine plats are useless on that map due to the low cost. 3 Starred all other maps. Not worth spending all that charisma and stamina trying out for that last SC and Rainbow spirit. Nice to have a challenge. But not when it requiers the use of bunch of min cost silvers and bronzes or the likes. Im playing since over a year and still have not a single min cost silver. CCing and AWing just eats them all.

then figure out which G map out of the 3 is easier to 2 star

I got all but the last 2 maps 3 starred on my first run. Sounds of Darkness was particularly lulzy because I pretty much just spawn camped everything with Syb, Sophie and Flamel. Demonic Beasts was annoying but then I remembered I have Sophie and things ceased to be a problem.

Whew, this event really pushed my timing and what could be done from the video guides! Sitting at 29 stars, Last Battle took me a bit with the timing and precision of Sandra's skill (practically had to keep a close eye on normal speed to hit them correctly) so Spica sniped them off when needed or simply waiting for Sandra's next activation. Forest of Demonic Beasts, I'm really tight on UP and mincosts, followed KeyKii with my own units and I do hold on quite well, that is until the second to last swarm of Orthus appears and they kill off the Ertel I barely just put xD (not likely I'll take that one anymore) And finally, Captured Ninja I could've 3-star it earlier if not for dropping Cloris and then miss the timing to drop Nagi and her skill, so the ninjas simply took out so easily, funny because all I had to do then was simply activate healers, drop Nagi, and then her skill and bingo.

Aside that, collected a few Rogues and Valkyries that I needed, I guess I'll leave the event as it was, and even though it was challenging, it has been some time since I had such a rough time with missions. That was fun!

I know I've complained about drop rates before, but this one takes the cake for "most uncommon drop rates in an event." Especially annoying when I do a run of "Forest of Demonic Beasts," nearly lose, and get nothing for my trouble.

Speaking of that mission, the first time I tried it I thought to myself, "Let's just do it, what's the worst that could happen?" which I followed up with "Do you really want me to answer that?" Surprisingly, I was able to clear it with 1 star.

I think "The Captured Ninja" is going to be the toughest mission I've ever done in my year-and-a-half on MWA. Did a trial run... couldn't kill a single unit. God damn, but what am I supposed to do against that, short of blessings? I mean, going to get those anyway, but damn.

Not exactly something I can do on command, even if I had 2 or 3 platinum armors to spare to level each member up after they're Awakened, to offset the stat drops.

Also, Last Battle With the Fanatics is another tough one, though I think in that case it's more a matter of unhelpful places for the ranged units. And the flies, jeez.

use witches and magic damage units (like pupuru) ? Use saki or other assasins and hope the assasination triggers (considering their dodge chance , u're probably not going to have many chances , but u have nothing to lose anyway)
Try using bashira and hoping she doesn't misses that much either

The only AW units I have are Spica, Bashira, Belinda, Bernice, and Iris - didn't max lvl them

man, haven't been using' ninjas unless dat Saki is the event black unit - I cc her a while back due to many damn black fairies taking too much room

guess I just swap and withdraw fast units for the top to buy time

I dont think I 3 star it since dealing w/ ninjas - unit placement is a Bitch and any slight screw ups can bite u in the ass

Finally got my 26 stars. The last missions are kind of challenging as I didn't train up the event units used in the guides.

I managed to squeeze by with some quick leveling though. Think I'm going to have to prioritize those units since their specials are too useful on some event maps.

Finally caved and got the Blessing pack. Made the missions a lot easier, and I've now got 3 stars. I STILL can't 3-star Last Battle With the Fanatics, though. Those damn flies...

But on the bright side, the only additional perk is starting level 50, I can do without that.

Yup, i could have got 27 maybe 28-29 stars if i tried but honestly i didn't see the point. Why waste stam/char trying stuff out when all you get is + 20 levels or something. you can easily fodder her up from the time you saved not wasting stam/char. Instead i got the ninja chick 4/5 skill + mincost so i am pretty pleased with that, could have gone for 5/5 skill but i was getting trash luck and i needed gold today (monday) lol.
