Yes, the abilities of your team do not really matter. Whaleship has its own stats for different activations.
I am not sure but it seems that some of the ablities do add a little here and there, like Crit. Chance, Skill act chance etc, but if that is true, and by how much I cannot tell.
The only setup for WS is to stack the most powerfull girls of the necessary color into the first two teams who will do the actual combat.

Those are all RNG for the ship itself. It neither receives buffs from the girls in it nor gets healed by special nodes.

I just went with the default position and a helper in the same speed range as my teams (489-598-589-588)


edit: I just changed my team setup (4* replaced by 5* and swaps), now my speeds are not balanced and I can't get all the pests in last mission, so yeah, speed balance seems needed

So is it just me or are the whaleship missions themselves a little underwhelming? I mean it's neat seeing the ship animations, and I get that the pests are higher level and therefore you need to have stronger girls to get through it. But as a single path it removes pretty much the only strategic element of the game, placing units at start camps appropriately for speed and strength when applicable.

From what I gathered, it's the small pests that scale with the total power of your ship, while the boss that you actually battle with your ship doesn't scale with its TP, but it does have its own "suggested TP". The boss in whale mission 1_5 for example, has a suggested TP of 11,000,000, but that number doesn't include your whaleship being crewed against its weakness. So your 880k crew performed like a 1.3M crew because you crewed it for slice.

There aren't any healing springs on whale maps and chocolate heals can neither be boosted nor affect the ship.

Actually those choc heals DID heal my ship... not sure about the girls tho since there was one run with only a choc heal between big bosses.
Without that ship heal I would have lost for sure.

Also I think I did have lavender in one of my squads but not the first one.

With my current roster, I barely manage to pull a 667k TP slash ship, with just 184k atk.
If I try to replace some weak slash girls, I fall back on a generic ship.

It's not a restriction, it's an option. If more than half of the girls on your ship are of a specific type, then the ship becomes of that type, and effectively gets a 50% ATK bonus against bosses who are weak against that type.

So if half your crew is slash type girls, then the ship deals more damage against the bosses who are weak against slash.

Wiki doesn't say anything about dual ship, instead a guide I found says to add your strongest squads, then replace weaker girls with your strongest e.g., spare slice girls one by one until the ship changes colour.

I'm "gambling" that my regular 4 squads will be able to handle the regular combat. They're all multi-colored, but work squad synergy. First squad is my triggersquad with Fritillaria, which performs exceptionally well against batches of small pests. Second squad is a counter squad (my regular helper squad), which handles batches of small pests slightly less, but is great against bosses. Third squad is the debuff squad, which performs almost as good as the counter squad now, but still needs to be amped up. So far, the first squad managed to handle all whale encounters, but I'll see what happens on future maps.

I used my normal squads for the top 4, and then added strongest girls with enough Slice to get a red ship.

The boarders didn't get past my first squad on the first three missions, but I haven't tried the fourth as my ship was nearly destroyed in the third mission by the boss (though not enough total power amongst my 40 gals).

Also not tried mission 4 as trying to do both this week's event and the last days of the reissued Holly but behind in both as I put all my stamina last week into the Ampy drive (so some of the stamina usually meant for the new event was spent catching up on Holly).

Will be tight to get both Holly and another 36,000 or so tokens by Thursday and Tuesday respectively without spending a Gem to top up stamina.

Dual ships are not possible according to Japanese wiki. The higher amount will determine the colour of the ship, if two colours have the same amount of girls the ship will remain colourless.

From my brief reading, it would seem to me the Slice one will come back again in a few months and you would then be able to get the rest to the 7,000 tokens then, or it could be when the slice one comes back again, it is a different token/reward again.
