Howdy all, I’m a relatively new player and still have a ton to learn. Initially, I started to build my Light team because the game showered some love on me - and I used a couple SR tickets to plus it up. Here’s what it looks like today:
Athena (SSR), Diana, Belabog, Sakunahikona, (subs are Métis and Hermès at the moment, but Kubera is also available). I do have a full grid of weapons, still working on these, but it doesn’t include a lance, glaive, gun or staff.

Since putting this group together, the game has bestowed a host of SSR and SR ‘hime on me for other elements...notably Fire and Thunder: Mammon (a starter, with Athena), Brahma, Fodla, Baal
Fire: Mars (last starter SSR), Ra, Molech, Amon

Water, Wind and Dark lag at 2x SR a piece. I’m probably best armed in Thunder (recent event). So...keep on keeping on with Light or look to change it up?

I suspect the problem with your weapons is maybe you´re leveling them up, but are not leveling their skill level up as well? You need a full grid of same elent weapons to handle most content. The favoured skill level is "Assault", but later on the other kinds (Rush, Defender, Ascencion, etc.) will be worth of consideration.

I’ve started to level my weapons now that I know it’s important. I’m in “beggars cannot be choosers” mode there - I can cover a grid, but most are not limit broken, so I’m using those that are regardless of skill. My selection is fairly narrow too, so that impacts which souls I can use and how they perform (Mordred, Cassiopeia, Rosenkreuz plus the standards). Without going down the list, it might be a little broader in Thunder in terms of weapon types - and, of course, they’re nastier from a atk standpoint.

For the time being, I’m keeping on with Light...just don’t know enough to make a change.

I know very little about thunder, so I won't comment on it much, other than the fact that usually 3 SSR > just 1 SSR so thunder is looking the most promising atm - light Athena has her uses but is not really a core light hime.

Ok, a few things here:
1. At the very least, you need to farm all standard and expert raids of your chosen element and leech as many ultimates as you can - take advantage of the half AP/BP off while it lasts. I would not waste resources on weapons that have a useless skill (e.g. that wind SR fan from the event that just ended) 'cos if you even just farm a handful of raids everyday, those useless skill weapons will be obsolete in weeks if not days.
2. Don't worry about not having a weapon for the soul - that is easily solved by soul weapons once you start farming ults. Unlock ones that have useful abilities.
3. It's ok to start with not limit broken weapons - it's actually most efficient to lvl a bunch of LB0 evenly, 'cos the higher weapon level and SL require more and more resources, but the power level scales linearly. So fill your grid with LB0 assault disaster weapons and LB them as you get extra copies.
4. Farm as many standard and expert raids for all elements as you can - whatever weapons you don't use is SL fodder and the eidolons dropped can be sold for orbs to buy eidolons that matches your element (St. Nick or Barong for light - the elemental and char atk eidos are better than the special atk ones we're getting from events right now in like 99% of situations; you also want more MLB eidos to boost your stats.)

Getting a proper grid will do far more than tweaking your hime line-up at the moment, especially since you don't seem to have a very wide selection of himes yet.

For the time being, I’m keeping on with Light...just don’t know enough to make a change.

If you're sticking with light, make sure to join a union that can clear all rewards before the next phantom UE (it'll be right after the water advent.) Those weapons are really good and light doesn't get another event until November after that.

Oof...SR stuff still seems precious to me...gonna be hard using them for fodder! I’ll keep the SSR stuff, I think. I’m guessing that LBing my SR stuff (like that dang fan) is just gonna cost me gems and do zero good when I consume them for exp/SL....oh well.

I meant fodder the disaster SR you aren't using - you can always farm them back if you find yourself needing them.

I'm a pack-rat, too and usually keep all the event weapons, even this useless wind SR fan just in case I ever want to build a phantom grid and am one weapon short (this one would be my absolute last choice though, elaborate staff, seriously? I'm probably better off using some random MLB soul weapon if I had one lying around.) But I keep them in my gift box so it doesn't take up precious inventory space...

There are two threads for this.
