These are the units I currently have available, as well as two platinum armours from level up rewards. I want to start CCing some units, and was thinking of going with Katie and an archer first. For the archer, I'm thinking of CCing Soma first, as I think I'll have a difficult time getting the remaining platinum fairies for Bashira.

Am I making the right choice to CC Katie/Soma first?

I'd also appreciate any other advice going forward.

considering you're at the begining , cc-ing 1 soma is not that big of a deal. Actually , u will need 2 archers to be able to comfortably farm 200 DC , to buy spica from trading post. After u got spica , between her and bashira, u will probably never have to use any other archer (unless it's some weird map that requires a lot of aerial prowess , or u got nanaly).

That being said , nyashira is much much much more powerful then soma , and will far outperform her.

Katie is also a good first cc option as well , so it's a toss between what you like more

Thanks for the advice. I currently have 160 DC, so I should be able to get Spica soon, depending on my luck.

then don't bother cc-ing soma if you're so close. You will need the cc fodder for both spica and bashira. I assumed you were a bit farther from 200 dcs

I currently have 160 DC

How?

Anyway, don't bother with Souma then. CC a witch, healer, mage, HA, Katie. Bashira as soon as you get the plat fairies, or just level her to 50 with normal fodder (expensive, but you probably don't have enough plat armors for every unit anyway). After that work on a second healer, witch, mage and Spica.

How?

I started playing sometime near the end of Horace's event. Haven't progressed anywhere near as much as I should (was focusing more on GK/PPS until recently), but I ran Crystal Keeper frequently.

Really wishing I had bothered to try some of the Gold Rush maps now.

All of us made some questionable decisions back in the day when we started playing this game (either here or in DMM). Don't worry about that. Steeper initial curve with no Gold Rush units, but you will get them eventually :)

If you are that close to getting Spica, don't really bother CC'ing a Soma. You will barely use her and other units require that CC more than her. Katie will be a top choice, so go ahead. You will be using her a lot.

Alright, so I've CC'd Katie, and I'm one Plat fairy away from feeding an armour to Baashira so that I can CC her as well. On top of that, I just took a few shots at the Premium Summon, and managed to aquire Lilia, Marr, a second Iris, and Garrett. I assume I should start levelling Garrett, so that he can take over the primary tank role.

I like the sounds of Marr's healing, but should I focus on leveling her, Iris, or Fedora?

With Lilia, when should I start raising her up?

My noob opinions:

Garrett is an offense based tank. His trust bonus and skill give attack. On max level, he has lower base defense than Leeanne, whose skill also boosts defense. Because of that I would go with Leeanne for now.

Marr is great from what I've heard, but I would level a conventional healer (or maybe even two) first for the big single target heal and higher range. Iris has high healing output during her skill, while Fedora is more flexible with the increased range. I'd go with Iris first, especially since you just got a second one to CR/SU her later (keep in mind that her skill changes after CC, so you will have to CC the dupe for the SU).

As for Lilia, I would give her some xp (level 25-30 or so), but get the core team up and running before leveling her further.

lilia and marr are great to have. Especially marr imo , but as our unregistered guest here said , it's better to cc iris first. That being said , garret is literally the worst gold possible in my opinion , and even leanne is a better tank then him. DOn't bother leveling him up , and especially don't invest aff in him since it's pointless......unless u somehow have extra (which i kinda doubt) and just want to see his scenes. But even then , u're better of keeping said items for a better unit. As for garet himself , u can keep it as awakening fodder i guess.

TLDR : pretty much what the previous post said.

he's no main tank at the fuck all but he's a perfect offtank

...I think that is an actual valid point when you think about it.

The only thing I have against Garret is his post Awakening competition. On stats alone he's an interesting off-tank but unlike Awakened Bernice he doesn't passively buff his tanking partner's defense. That makes him very expendable to vets who own or plan on shooting for a platinum or black heavy infantry.

But you know what? None of that really matters much in this case. Awakening isn't out yet, Golds don't take any more fodder than Silvers to CC and in the short term the OP just plain needs some tanks up and running. There's not much reason to avoid CCing Garret in this particular situation.

That idea of Garret being an offtank is actually interesting. He can shine in very specific situations. However, for those who already have Bernice + Gellius (or Maribel who actually does both jobs, or Deine) leveling him up might be a waste of resources.

If anything I'll get around to lving him eventually, but he's automatically at the bottom of the priority list when I think about throwing fodder units at a needy unit for lvs.

I hear he, Lauren, and Sanosuke are all getting along down there. :P
