I opened up the fifth factory slot the other day. Not a single regret, because now my base is completely finished. There's always the option to spend cores in the store later if the events don't suck them all up, and all the while I'll still be cranking out new tanks in the factory for basically free...in fact, I just put two 4*s into production while I was composing this post.

The store is a fool's bet for FTPers, even at the 'generous' 3% feature rate.

I can't recommend the 5th factory slot simply because 2700 cores is such a high cost for so little reward. But the 4th slot is a must, be aware that it will likely take you 600-700 builds to get a 5* out of the factory on average but with all the 4* you will get that 4th slot is well worth the investment.

It's a 25% increase in the amount of factory builds, which in turn means a 25% increase in your factory 5*s.

    Forever.

Compare that one-time cost to blowing 2700 cores on the 3% chance of getting a featured 5* at the store, after which you get nothing.

No idea about others, but I reached 2700 cores near the start of Halloween event and I ended up trading for the guaranteed 5* 3 times instead during that. Sure 5th slot is forever, but as a player who started with launch and has had 4 slots for a long time, I've still only ever made 1 5* from factory.

I spent cores on the Halloween event too...but I'm not willing to spend them on the pitiful chance at the store like the original question asked.

    *shrug*

IIRC I made two full pulls with cores. I got 1 5*. (on first of the two pulls)

I've gotten 0 5* from my 4 factory slots in all the time I've been playing.
    -however-
I'm currently sitting on 2 and a half 5* tanks worth of blueprints, a significant number of which have come from recycling junk gotten via those factories.

So I disagree that factories are better than pulls to get a 5* "straight out". However, they are better than pulls to get blueprints, which can be used to get certain 5*'s. (Reason I have so many blueprints is so far since I got 3k there hasn't been a 5* tank available via research I want/need.)

And I've had two 5*s from my factory, but I admit that's not statistically significant. The sample size we're working with is so small, and the 5* odds also so small, that there's no way to compare success rates for either method without many, many more months worth of data. But the bottom line is that you get the best probability of gaining 5* tanks by taking the most chances you can. That's not done with four factory slots plus once every month or so when you have enough cores to spend at the store. When I opened the fifth slot I increased the number of chances I can take by 25%.

On a totally different topic, is anyone else having trouble getting the new event mission to start?
