I am confused now.

Is this supposed to be a event?

On Nut it is advertised as such. Ingame it is not.

The banner says "Girl on Girl action". As if this was a time limited event. It even has a countdown.

Ingame it has no countdown. Previous events had one. It just says "New". And all of it looks and feels like a new game mechanic. A sort of meta trophy or extended trophy - you get diamonds and items after the 20+ diamonds for completing a girl. Now you have to win challenges with her. Was there ever an event where you could gain diamonds, instead of spending them?

Furthermore, in the memory tab it is sorted in front of all the other events and after The day we met. It is named Getting clean there.

What I am curious, how will the game decide, who your best girl is and does it do so with the sum of all base stats or only if all base stats are higher.

I really think it is an event. I think they may be cautious about the timing till they see what is a good length. With some girls taking 2 weeks to coach, I could see many players hoping this event would stretch for a significant length of time.

I'm curious what the countdown you saw said. Was it a month? I agree with you on it having the feel of a new mechanic, but it is also unclear which parts are related to the event, (if I can assume that at least part of this is an event), and which parts, if any, are part of a new game mechanic.

I think the diamonds have a purpose in the game. I'm guessing they expect to see players spending them on energy to be able to coach more girls. If they can get players used to the idea of spending them, by making it a bit easier to get them, they have changed the player mindset in a way that benefits them. I don't think there is anything wrong with this. It looks like it could be a win-win for game and the players.

I hadn't noticed this! I changed the wiki page for the event.

I managed to get the twins past Indira by not practicing with Indira. One of her stats is still higher, but not the sum. So, it's only the sum of the base stats.
I have girls now that have all been coached, but have both the sum of their base stats and each individual stat lower than my best girl. I still can't coach them, so there much be a threshold to pass before coaching is an option.

The timer is on the right hand side of the nutaku page. Right now, it only has 7 days and 10 hours left. It's roughly 10pm, est. Maybe it will be a re-ocurring event? But this event doesn't give you a lot of time to win many of the outfits. Not sure why, but that may be the point. Pick the one or two you like, then get 15 battles won, the best way you can, with those 1 or 2 girls.

Or the point might be to entice people to spend loads of diamonds, who knows?

Bah. I say it is advertising. Can't advertise a new feature for half a year and have a banner. So they got two weeks or so in the event area of nut.

I agree. It's still unclear. They'll have to exempt event girls at first if the coaching is a new feature. Two weeks of coaching would have pushed any of them well past what was needed in the xmas or spring events.

I have a little more than 5% difference between a girl I coached before and the best girl. Each of the individual stats is higher on the best girl, though not by a lot on one. Still not able to coach them again. I get the "work on your best girl" message. It could be a one shot deal, too. It's hard to say when they give so little info on these things.

That would not be a problem. The spring girl was blocked from doing normal challenges, no problem blocking a new girl from coaching, while still being the active event girl. Oh, and they now do no longer open their own Get Clean page. Previously, Mistlhoe and little Miss Sunshine could open that page by clicking below the TV. And winning with them does not open it, too. But I do not know, if it was previously possible to win and get trophys with them.

That sounds better. If it were a one shot, you would not get a message like "work on your best girl". That indicates a threshold. Other possibilitys were a cooldown, the said one shot, buggy implementation with all the clothingbonus and inherent girl bonus and whatnot.

But with that message, I say threshold. And there are several ways to do that, of course. All base stats higher, sum of base stats higher, higher in absolute numbers, higher in percent of number, combination of several aspects, counting in stamina somehow etc.

Should the threshold be around 600k difference in sum of base stats, my guess would be 14 days worth of training is the threshold - since it takes 14 days to coach an untrained girl.
