Maybe there's so many elves, the building won't hold anymore? Population overload, maybe?

I just broke mine as well. So I reset and left it at 4 cookies being produced by 290 sextillion elves. Maybe they will rotate out for New Years so everyone gets to party.

Update: I went back just to see what happens if I “Buy Max” and no “Unlocks & Upgrades” after about 5 minutes I reset again and now I have 2.65 Septillion elves... so even though it does not display the increase, you still get more. Now I gotta find out how many I have at the end of the 25 days left.
