It's 1 ruby/energy but the price is capped at 100 rubies, so waiting for the end is the smart move as you'll get more energy back with 100 rubies.

Maybe buying refill during the event is worth it to increase your cap faster if you cant log in too often and for the night. But I don't know if that's the case and I really don't want to do the maths.

Cool! Glad you caught my bad assumption, I hadn't really examined the recharge closely. Anonymous's claim about 1to1 fit with what was on my screen at the time, so I bought into it without thinking. Whoops. Now that I've checked it more closely I agree with you.

With a fixed (max) price on recharges, it should be trivial to reach L14 by the last day.

If you are able to use at least 12 hours of free energy per day (12 hours of energy, not 12 hours playtime) you'll probably get to L14 without having to spend gems. Below that you'll need gems, but the higher your level (i.e. the bigger your battery) the fewer gems you'll have to spend.

In all honesty, I think this is the best event they've come up with. I've had several where I earned every reward in the first few days, and then had nothing left to win for the remaining 75% of the event.

The Alexis event gives everyone a reason to play the entire time. Obsessive players can't possibly win everything early without spending gems, they couldn't miss even an hour's worth of energy and still complete the last level for free. Normal players can get the unique rewards pretty easily, the increasing battery capacity helps a lot, but they won't get as many multiplier increases past L14. Very casual players will have to spend gems if they want all of the threads, which is as it should be. Verra nice!
