Having finally gotten my first team capable of tackling high-end content and finally being able to fill the rest with rainbows, so that they wouldn't be completely useless, I thought I'd try the nushi missions. Most of them were not too much of a problem, except for the last one in Bergamot Valley, the Mafuru Plateau fight:
The first enemies on that map are a stag beetle and a pair of flies. The stag beetle buffs the enemy team with high defence while the flies taunt and draw fire to themselves. The boss fight has two waves: first a nasty pair of horned beetles who have 20% evasion and then comes the main course, a butterfly that can one shot my best teams.
Here's the team I put together after a little bit of trial and error:
Team 1 consisted of as much debuff as I could muster and in the leftover slot I put Tarragon for AOE attacks and some survivability. Apparently you can just outdamage the first mobs, but that was not an option for me, as I had to keep my strongest team intact for the final boss.
Team 2 was mostly Kerria with some support to mop up first mobs and whittle down wave 1 of the boss fight.
Team 3 was just a filler team to mop up after team 2 and maybe damage the boss a little, so that team 4 gets a clean shot at the boss.
Team 4 was my best crit team with Apricot added in the mix to get two shots at the boss and hopefully get lucky enough with skills and re-act to take it down.
And so it was time to put the best laid plans to test...
After the stag beetle got whittled down, the flies got an attack buff and laid waste to my crappy debuff team until only Tarragon was left standing. Almost dead, she went on to face the first wave of the boss:
Here I would have gladly used a supercounter crit team, had I had one, to deal with the evasion, but then again, if pigs had claws they'd be climbing trees. Anyway, Lone Tarragon barely managed to scratch them and it was then team 2's turn:
