What is the determining factor on who you face in the contests as I encounter top-ranked TOF players frequently?
What would make most sense for me is the progress in the story, level, stats or 'harem value'. But I have seen a threat pre-HH2.0 where strong indications towards rank in the tower of fame were made.

As rank in the tower of fame seems like the most likely parameter to determine the pools for contest - why would that even be considered? The only reason to do tower fights is XP and there was absolutely none pre-HH2.0 when the system was put into place. It is very easy to dodge strong competition by simply spamming trolls to enmass money and sit at base rank in the tower to only compete against new player which basically guarantees easy contest wins.

Progress in the story would give newer players decent competition but would be overwhelming once you caught up to the story as most players there probably have at least twice the amout of girls/income/stats.

Level would obviously be a very reasonable choice as it basically pools people of similar activity.

Stats would be heavily abusable and does not make too much sense either as you dont really need much stats to fight trolls and one could artifically lower ones stats by just using no/crap gear - so it is pretty save to exclude it entirely.

Harem value, similar to level, would pool people of similar activity.

I got curious as I recognized that the Hard Training! (give XP to girl) contests blew out of proportion rather quickly. Not too long ago a push for 300k+ points basically gave you the contest win and now ~500k would not even place you into koban range and last time the winner had 3kk points.

So, does anyone have any idea what influences your competition in contest as it definitely does not seem to be random?
