I'm almost at 1500 of each book... I think I have more than enough books to waste on that... Books aren't really hard to get, but girls are way too limited in order to compete. To win most of the girl xp contests, you need 2 girls to go from level 1 to 40, which means you would run out rather quickly... But the books don't stop coming from the pachinko contests, so the amount I have just rises higher and higher despite not having anything to use them on anymore.
While it may seem wasteful, the books have a much lower value compared to kobans and epic items, which are both much harder to obtain. There isn't really a reason to not use the books on the contests, other than the limited amount of girls preventing you from doing so, as there isn't really any other use for them after you get all girls maxed out.
