  1. Guys, don't underestimate how much of a difference 20% make. To leave a few examples (adding ~130% stamp for a decent late game grid comparison, break even point for Takemikazuchi to surpass Girimehkala):

    Ele advantage:
    1) with 40/20 char atk eidolon: break point: 100% assault, at 130%: 1.8% damage difference
    2) with 40% ele atk eidolon (phoenix, thunderbird): break point: 210% assault, at 130%: -4.5% difference
    3) Kirin .. like any Kirin would ever use Take

No ele advantage (why would you ever play thunder vs. neutral element unless you got Kirin):
    4) with 40/20 char atk eidolon: break point: 30% assault, at 130%: 9.7% damage difference
    5) with 40% ele atk eidolon (phoenix, thunderbird): break point: 135% assault, at 130%: -0.3% difference
    6) Kirin: break point once again above 230% assault

In the end, the most common situation for high ranked people with good thunder grids would probably be 1) in which case, Take would be slightly better, followed by 2) in which case Giri would be significantly better. The better active is a bit of a plus for Take, but unless the majority of your friendlist is r90+, Giri is the better choice in my opinion. She might be slightly worse for some, but a lot better for others and if you and your friends are still newer, then she's pretty much always quite a lot better.

But if you consider the break points above, you should be able to form your own opinion on what fits best for you currently.

There's another wrinkle: Takemikazuchi cuts down the worst case scenario of full bursting every 10th turn to every 9th turn. So your long term DPS estimates aren't as simple as usual.

And in the event +assault is preferred, Sandalphon/Yggdrasil is also an option. It gets a bit complicated since the 10% edge in character atk that a 0* Girimehkala has over them is partially negated by the difference in raw atk then multiplied by 1.1. Then it's a question of the utlity of +20% HP, which in itself varies in impact since it stacks additively with defender effects.

And speaking of the general population being not necessarily mechanically savvy, I think that the one person with Kirin on my list switched to Meng Huo today o.o

More damage is not always better. When you want to auto something, sometimes less is more. It's all about getting the transitions right so abilities go off at the right time.

Hmm... Do you believe that yourself? Replacing Kirin with Meng Huo can be better? In what planet? XD

If I had a Kirin, I'd probably be able to just green auto Rahab.

I've also suffered from having a team be to strong making certain content more annoying to deal with on auto. Twice this event I've lost ultimate Rahab on auto ability. This was because my subs are random himes I'm leveling but mostly because no burst build up due to killing all trash with skills. So to fix it, I just regular auto attack the entire thing and it works. I'll get hit by 1 raging overdrive but that pushes my team for a full burst which pretty much kills her after. Hasn't failed me yet.

I haven't optimized for this event, but in the past I had to replace Shiva with an SR because she was killing the trash too fast. I've also run double HP/character attack eidolons so that my auto team would survive Raging Overdrives. Given these experiences, it'd be hasty for me to conclude that someone is stupid/ignorant just because they're not using the eidolon I'd prefer.

You just answered yourself tho, you replaced shiva for an SR, minimal dps change in the great scheme of things, you have used double 40% char 20% hp, thats still nowhere near losing 100% for literally 0 (Mii), you can make some tweaks here and there so your hp vs damage is in a comfy place, but your examples arent comparable to swapping 100% for 0%.

To prove the point, I wasted 10min of my life to show that running without damage eidolons can be useful. (It'll take a while to upload and be viewable)

That's my Ragnarok team for both events. On Rahab Ultimate without damage eidolons, it wins on auto-battle. With 2x +45% elemental attack eidolons, it loses (video not shown).

Setting aside actually using Meng Huo over Kirin for yourself or not, that it's showing up on friends lists is the interesting bit here.
Either one is savvy enough to know how to choose which eidolon would show up for a given element, and thus this is a conscious decision. Which leads to the question of why would you want to show Meng Huo over Kirin.
    Or, one doesn't know how.

(also, said friend switched over to Medusa farming apparently, as the team I can see him using is light/St. Nick. So uh, the Meng Huo isn't being actively used?)
