Dunno what you've read, but she doesn't lose it. In fact, it gets upgraded to get +15 BG in case it lands.

Unawakened:

Darkness Lost Unlocks at Level 45
Deals Dark DMG to an enemy and removes 1 active orb from the enemy overdrive meter

Awakened:

Darkness Lost
Deals Dark DMG to an enemy and reduces Charge Turn by 1
★ (Lvl 45) Adds Burst Gauge↑ (+15%) to self

So does "Reduces charge turn" mean the same as "Reduces overdrive meter"?
