In what situation will you select cursed canting chains as your ex? In a world where design has moved towards debuff resistance and you're in a situation in which you've chosen to use your soul for damage reduction purposes, you'd use Joan. Then you'd probably take the 100% damage cut on a 6 turn cooldown ex skill. Or, if you prefer a defense buff lasting multiple turns at once (ie you're still thinking of cursed canting chains for whatever reason), you take the ex skill that's a presumably-small stacking def buff on a 2 turn cooldown that lasts 30 turns.
Guh, I misread the 100% damage cut. It should be 1 ally. My mistake. You'll have to go down to Roland and combine cover with that to work (like any other cover + solo 100% damage cut combination).
Without knowing what else you have, I tend to like Chaos Magic for buff removal.
Hmm, Envy's ability to remove debuffs is actually expert only. My preference for expert Envy then would be to avoid the raging overdrive altogether, so I'd probably end up still using Sniper Shot anyway. That said, I'm in a union where activity is dispersed enough such that I'd be soloing whatever expert fight I start up. Naturally, it's easy to control which overdrive an expert demon uses when soloing and not so much when there's multiple people. I can't speak for what would be a better choice in a more active union.
It said in the Union Event thread that the Demon Envy clears all debuffs on a raging overdrive. That's what I was thinking/worrying about.
Current team:
Herc w/Axe EX: ??
LSatan
Michael
Sol
Uranus
w/ Sati, Hermod, LAmeterasu available.
I subbed out Sati (she was my standard 4th) with Uranus for ATKup and need some idea what to replace Sniper Shot (standard EX) with. The best non debuff is Cass's Ruthless Beauty (15% up DEF), which could be Cursed Canting Chains (20% up DEF) if I really didn't want to use a debuff. If it's not nearly as painful using debuffs I'd rather sub Sati back in for Uranus and put my EX back to Sniper Shot.
Thoughts?

Going with debuffs against expert Envy isn't all that painful if you can maintain control. Again, not hard when you're soloing, but that goes out the window when there are multiple people.
That said, if there's other people there and you know for a fact that everybody else is auto-ing? Just attack when you know that your attack will turn the demon from raging to stun so you can progress a turn without the demon advancing toward its next overdrive. Mind you, don't necessarily cast debuffs just yet, because you never know when the others trigger a raging overdrive. You're mainly just killing time/contributing some damage until the others auto themselves to death, then you treat the remainder of the fight as a solo battle.
If someone else is playing manual and noticed the above tactic? Ehhhh, I got nothing beyond 'hope you guys hit hard enough for the battle to be short anyway'.
First jewel roll ... Tishtrya!! Fuck yeah!!
