Because Berserk greatly boosts damage and has few demerits when timed correctly. Her other abilities synergize with this and result in excellent normal attack damage for the entire team during the Burst generation phase of a fight. Moreover, the defense debuff can be mitigated with recovery skills or canceled out with a defense buff.
