The normal overdrive is dangerous because it applies a DoT (scales with max HP) + prevents healing. That needs to be avoided.

I'm planning to run Mordred (EX: Sniper Shot), Gabriel, Triton, Shiva, Sol for Ragnarok. I'll push into Rage immediately, with the goal of getting off a full Burst before the first Normal Overdrive goes off. I'll let the first DEF up buff linger, then dispel prior to using my Burst (~turn 8).

Mordred should be useful here for damage mitigation, Black Propaganda, and making absolutely sure debuffs stick. I expect a fairly easy victory with a maxed Water team, as long as the ATK/DEF debuffs land.
