I would trade my 2 gelliuses for grace ; ) Because i feel throwing fireballs-heavy armor is cooler than lazy and boring tank : ) and i have bernice for tanking purposes : )

bernice is not even close to having the same tanking power as gelius , but whatever.

To be fair, Deine is a better physical tank than Gellius and can deal 1k+ aoe dps to boot. She might be more expensive, but during the times when you cannot afford to place a good tank anyways Bernice will suffice, really.

Gellius only good part is that he gets some MR too but on higher tier maps you're seldom faced with both those at the same time and if you are, you will want two separate tanks to handle those types of damage anyways. I mean, i doubt Gellius would be able to handle 2-3 liches blasting him while tanking some mega golem anyways.

I thought Gellius could surpass Deine in Defense during Skill too? (since Deine's skill affects her attack and attack speed, not her defense, her defense is static where his increases during skill)

And if you EVER see liches AND a mega-hard-hitter melee, who in their right mind would tank them all with the same unit regardless of stats (excepting Karma immortality)? You'd probably block the melee with Deine/Gellius/Anya/Olivie with skill and use Sophie/Clissa/Sybilla/Dahlia as lightning rod for the liches.

Agree Gellius' MR bonus is overrated, it's useful but not nearly enough to tank liches + hard hitters at once.

Most people that i heared have gellius AND deine but use gellius over deine say so cause theres nothing that gellius cant tank wich deine could and that shes just ways to expensive.
And yes gellius skill especialy when leveling with rainbows beats deines defence by far.

deine only really shines imo once her SAW comes out, her SAW changes her attack into an AOE Splash 3x attk 2x def. She is really amazing once she gets that.

Even without SAW, AW99 Deine have 4899 ehp (vs physical enemies) on her own, before Prince and all other boosters. There's veeery few enemies she can't tank. And that things you don't really want to tank at all, anyway)
And then she does not only stop enemies, she wrecks them with whopping 2415 damage hits (under the skill) Once again, there's little that can survive that pounding for long enough to put a particularly deep scratch on her shield

And for low-cost tanking, there's Katie Bernice Leeanne for that!

My point exactly. Some people have a tendency to go all "oh but he also has 20MR with skill omg!" which is in all honesty not useful all that often.
