Pretty much. Memory serves, the plat necromancers have stuff that improves their tokens in some way and are mostly used for those said tokens to stall out stuff.

The black one on the other hand doesn't care about tokens, if anything for her they are just by-products of her being a pure damage necromancer.

So what unit are people using to tank the king of the dead in map 5? I'm trying to avoid having to buy Niel from the trading post if I can.

I just let my mage tank it on both accounts. (Armies in sig) Just place the Mage Last and have two healers on it. I used one ability at a time from the healers. Also, I only needed one duelist (for the two Liches).

Well that was short and sweet, didn't get 3 stars on the last 2 maps, but got to 21 so it doesn't really matter.

Time to figure out which silvers I need most and farm those/plat armours for the next 2 weeks.

According to the guide though, you place the mage last but he's too far away from the KOD so he will target the healer(the nearest one) first.

Thats odd, I never had to KoD attack my healers once my mage was placed, I was able to get my mage down before he showed up. (I needed to do this map 3 times to three star it due to a few issues I had with my team.) I did find I had to put down an additional lightning rod near the end as the KoD eventually managed to score two hits on my mage to kill him so I needed someone who could take a better beating once the KoD got closer. I used a valk for this.
