Thread: Super tanks

Hybrid View

I came into this thread to say Gellius and Bernice but I was beaten to the punch..

Bandits might be an option for you, Imelia boosts bandit's hp..

Or Alicia if you can buy her, she might have enough defense and hp to tank it. I haven't done the math. :P

    Perhaps Lucille an Dragon Rider..

Or if your options is truly limited then next best thing is evasion tanking. lol For Evasion tanking, use rogues and ninjas.
Bring in an Colin and have her throw bombs at golems as your rogues attempt to assassinate with golem's defense cut in half. I do not know if Golems is immune to alchemist's defense debuff or not.

Cornelia is often seen as the greatest tank on DMM. With her skill and paladin passive it is understandable why. If you have her or Cellia they're probably going to be the best choice to kill the golem with since they tank less units than HAs and Cornelia's SAW lasts a lot longer than HA skills.

We still do not have the greatest selection of tanks yet on nutaku. HAs are nice but their skills do not last very long and they'll pick up 3 other units to smack them at the same time as the golem, which can be rather bad.

Alicia can't. Way too little health means one would need to push her defense to over 1.1k with just passives, an that's not possible. With SAW, maybe, but not now.

Lucille also currently can't. Need x1.8 multiplier to defense from passives even with both Adele and Aisha buffing her HP. Once again, need SAW, and that is only 20 s long(

Cornelia will need some passive stacking, from what I see, and won't really survive next hit if under half HP even with her passive. But, 20% chance to ignore hit is a powerful tool indeed... But, 55 seconds is not that far off from Gellius's 45 seconds

So, there seem to be two main variety of super tanks. Those that passively have Effective HP of 5201 or greater, and those that require the use of their skill to achieve such. Additionally, some units may manage to cross into either category with the proper passives boosting stats. With the title Big Hero, the Prince can provide +21% defense to anything, and there are also other units with various abilities that will boost stats as seen here. Keep in mind how buffs stack.

Edit: Table moved to second post of thread. The version here has been spoilered and will no longer be updated.

Anyway, let's see about a table for units suggested so far.
    Key:

"w/ P" is short for "With Prince buff using Big Hero title."
"EHP" is shot for Effective Hit Points, which is the sum of HP and Def. Used to determine how large an attack can be survived.
"DMG" is short for damage, referring to the amount of damage incoming from an attack that is normally 5200. Normally will be 5200, but some skills may alter.
"+%HP" is the necessary % of HP boost needed to raise EHP to at least DMG + 1 (enough to survive a single hit from the complete Mythril Golem). Rounded up to the nearest whole percent.
"+%Def" is the necessary % of Def boost needed to raise EHP to at least DMG + 1 (enough to survive a single hit from the complete Mythril Golem). Rounded up to the nearest whole percent.
"Skill" is the name of the skill in use, if applicable. Mouseover for description. Dotted outlines indicate normal skill, dashes are awakened skill.
"Dur" is short for the duration (in seconds) of the skill in use, if applicable.
"RU" is short for reuse time (in seconds) of skill in use, if applicable.
"Init" initial wait time (in seconds) for skill, if applicable.
"AT" is attack type. "-" is Physical Damage, "M" is Magic Damage, "T" is true damage.
    "Atk" is attack.
"AS" is attack speed in frames (there are 60 frames per second).
    "A/S" is attacks per second.
★ denotes an event unit. Mouseover for details.
♦ denotes a Trading Post unit. Mouseover for details.
    * denotes Mouseover for details.

Added super tanks I'm aware of. Other suggestions are welcome.

On the note of Cornelia with awakened skill, while using passive buffs to only HP or Def may be difficult given limited selection of units to provide said buffs, +10% Hp and +7% Def with prince buff will give her the necessary EHP.

Of not mentioned, Miranda(!) seems can survive, but with major passive requirements. May not be feasible given you still need to deal with the rest of enemies.

All in all, Cellia is best. No buffers, no Prince, no nothing 5204 eHP, 2OP Lol-onee and Lyla are not that far behind.

On the top of my head , anya , cornlia , gelius and deine come to mind.

Celia with her skill and insane hp might be a good health tank as well.

Been using Cellia for the greater tanking myself. I also have Aisha, Adele and Elyse for the funsies of mega health with decent def. Not AW'd Imelia yet sadly, or Cellia would have had even more. I need to go ahead and do this.

As an interesting suggestion - i would add each units dps to the spreadsheet as well as whether it is magic damage or not. One might think damage is not the most important thing for a tank, but in all honesty i feel it is a great thing for a tank to be able to deal damage as well, shortening the time needed to tank something. This is why i am not a fan of HAs outside of Deine anymore. They just deal 0 damage and that's more often than not a negative point for me. Point in case - the 62 charisma magic city map. I'm so glad i had tanks that could do damage there so the damn things would go down in time for the next god damn golem.

If you're going to include skills in the equation, you might as well include Olivier, who tanks any amount of physical damage, and Black Karma, who can literally tank anything.
