Can someone suggest an optimal all-around setup to aim for?

I'm mostly trying to level Eli and Zera as tank and damage, but my only healer is Althea (is there even another one? what's Lily's ability?) and I'm not sure what the 4th slot should be.

Yeah, Eli is the best Tank atm.
Lily's ability is speeding everyone's ability's cooldown which is good for Eli and any other CC abilities. I recommend you to get Engineer Maidens, she will be useful for cleaning messy stages.

Problem with Eli is that she is slow. In earlier stages it doesn't matter, but at later stages when the time limit is low, it becomes a problem. Other good tanks for consideration is Beatrix or Isana.

Anyone else repeatedly getting Coral repeatedly? I got her twice in a row yesterday in the normal Gacha and once again this morning.
I will get her again this evening out of the daily rewards. Seems a little bit too much for coincidence.

Still getting random disconnects. Had another crash right after beginning a battle also, losing 20 energy again.

Prices seem to have dropped on upgrades though still a bit pricey. It was getting to a point where I was going to have to sell items in order to have the money to pay for upgrading items as they would build up faster than my coins and fill my inventory.

Despite the issues it is good to see the devs are very active in updating this game.

You will find there is no optimal combo to use all the time. A lot depends on who you are facing, what type of equipment you have and how you play the battle.

I have been using Helen and Althea most of the time. I now use Billie quite heavily as well but trade off other maidens often to level them up for different strengths. I am trying to get Isana up to strength to help tackle Campaign 2 level 40. I am also leveling up Rox and Eli to see how they do.

Helen is at Lvl 78 but still takes a lot of damage from fire based characters. I assume she would do better against them with armor that is not weak with fire but I have not leveled up the alternate gear enough yet to try with.

All you can really do is look at who you are fighting and try to match who you fight with as best you can and use them carefully to make the best use of their strengths.

Im not that new at the game, but a thing that I never understood and never found anywhere was : What does defense stats does? How much It reduce de damage? Is It userful?

Someone know what all abilities cooldowns are? I only know Luna's ( Base cooldown 10 seconds ) and Ava's ( Base cooldown 10 seconds ) Im out of energy to keep trying it with each of them, someone know's it to inform? I wanna get it to see wich of them ( abilities ) will be userful as DPS or Heal for the Team ( How much times I can activate it, really userful against high level bosses ) I wanna level the maidens up, but level each of them to level 60 at minimum, but if the abilities have a great delay, it may not worth it. If someone wanna test or already have some, share with us, we can make a list of it :b, But don't forget to let the ''Cooldown" status at 0, the standart cooldown value.

The WIKI has a lot of good information but it is not entirely accurate as the stats on maidens occasionally change.
Your stats are altered by your romance level, what items you carry and what level your buildings are at so it gets complicated.

On the wiki not all of the maidens stats are based on the same building level so comparing capabilities is tough unless you know how everything affects everything else and do the calculations.

I would love to see calculated stats at given levels for all of the maidens but I don't have my head wrapped around how they are all calculated yet.

Crystal Maiden's discord channel is also a good place for information and to ask questions. It's quite active, and staff from the game also chat with gamers there. All the latest news and updates are there. To get there, click on the discord icon on the bottom left of the screen in the game.
