Well, the people worrying about the game having any kind of 'power curve' and being behind - no need to worry, really.. The game as it is right now has no pvp at all(but it plans to get released though, probably with official release)..

The content of the game is lacking right now - 60 stages of normal and hard difficulty, that's it. After you reach hard - you will almost never go back to normal again as well. To beat hard 60 you only need to play for what... less than 2 weeks if you no life it.
Anything beyond that is unnecessary grinding to get better gear/more money for buildings which give good damage boost, but nothing much past it.

Max building level is 10 and although it takes insanely long(9>10 is 14 DAYS to upgrade) - you can buy multibuilding to level up all building simultaneously for an amount of gems worth only a little over 2 legendary gacha rolls(which don't even guarantee the legendary maiden)
So at the very worst, if you are free player - you are only a total of month behind another free player who decided not to buy this multi building. And you might even get them faster than him tbh, since it takes around 8x longer without that, so a total of almost 8 month(game is around for around 3 months now, so it would be around halfway done only)

The game gives you 3(!) free gacha rolls per day with approximately kamihime chances of premium rolls(according to what I got - common is ~90%, rare is like 8-10% and legendary is 1-2%)..
Also there is reward for 14 and 30 days of logging in.. 14 is usually common maiden and 30 is usually rare or legendary.

From the test event we saw that maidens will be relatively easily accessable via events. I can guarantee that even though at first you will feel like you are lacking them - around a month in the game you will almost be done with getting all maidens(the exclusions being 3 legendary maidens, out of which you are also almost guaranteed to have at least 1 with how many gems you get through trophies)...

So just 1 month is about enough to catch up with old players in terms of almost everything aside of a few extra legendary equipment pieces(and even this is pure luck with 1% chance of dropping) which can be even worse than rare counterparts(which are extremely easy to get).

Also IF the PVP gets released - it will be offline pvp at first(and considering the time it takes - for a long time as well), which means 'attacking' side will be in huge advantage due to being able to control the action. Those who play since release will obviously win for the 1st month or so... but there aren't any type of rewards they can give in this game to make others be unable to catch up - all the legendary/rare difference can be minimal when compared to skill at which you play, like dodging skills by drag and holding.

This is certainly not mononofu where you need to play 24/7 since release while spending $$$ each month to be able to do anything competitive.

Also the new players will experience a lot of advantages the old players didn't for even faster progress.

The energy system was doubled - maximum used to be 2 times less than what it is right now... Current end game player takes a little over 10 hours to hit 'energy cap'... it used to be 5-6 hours before.
That means that not only your schedule is much easier to organise unless you no life and it doesn't matter to you, you also get double the amount restored for leveling up(you recharge full energy) - simply leveling up already pushed the early game into a fast tempo before this change, I imagine that after this change it will be a breeze through the normal mode and make grinding to become decently strong for hard also much easier.

A completely free player here, got 13/16 of the current available maidens(missing 1 rare and 2 legendaries).. most of those are from either daily logins or test event + 4 starter maidens... the current month legendary is also the one I got.. so you can consider such results being the near absolute worst luck you can have in the game after about 2 month of playing. Also got enough gems for 5 leg gacha pulls, which I am not doing due to being able to get duplicates, which barely give you anything.(read as - you got duplicate, you pretty much wasted the gems).. the chance for maiden is actually rather decent from leg gacha, like 25-30%, so getting 1 is an easy task, but risking getting 2 or 3 might not be worth it until more maidens get released)

By the time gets released it will be at least twice as easy to get the same stuff old players got, so I wouldn't be too discouraged.

Mononofu is pretty heavy on playing time, but it's been quite a while since spending money beyond the $5/month monthly pass made much of a difference. Most of the obvious whales haven't been competitive in PVP in a long time.

Mostly because it can't exactly be pure whaled, you still have to spend time on it albeit slightly less if you whale. And only very rare kinds of leviathans can actually afford to both 24/7 the game and spend 1000$+ monthly on it.

Add up to that fact the reason of game simply lacking any kind of meaningful content and overall low quality of like absolutely everything from art to gameplay to balance to timed events, you name anything and it's guaranteed to be a low quality copy of already low quality games wartune'sque(albeit much less relying on money to min max everything, I must admit that). And you can find a reason people are quitting it and the ones sticking to it are just those who love the competitive feeling it gives(just like those people still playing wartune after there are only like 1 guild worth of active players on the server remaining - makes only easier to feel that number 1 spot in rankings) and can afford to spend enough time on it to remain competitive... since it's another of those games where you don't ever catch up with others.. you either start near the very start or you are forever behind until the person who played longer decides to leave or dedicate less time. You might get incredibly lucky obviously, but I don't count that as a reliable solution.

But it's really not the best place to discuss mononofu, anyway.

I would certainly give crystal maidens a try if you want a more forgiving game in terms of need to spend time, unlocking scenes, less of a competitive game overall and instead a game that tests your actual skill - it's a really good test for reflexes/timing, just how a game is supposed to be. But if you just want to compete for numbers, certainly avoid it, since as it is right now, the multiplayer part is really lacking in the game and the arena won't be something as main goal in the game for certain.

The game won't be something you will spend your full day schedule on, that's why there is lack of discussion here - currently there is lack of content, since they plan to release all content they were working on for 2 month in official launch only and have enough events to keep going from for the launch for some time, so we only get to see a small part of what's to come. Same for the events - people have just nothing to do right now with no events, so most aren't even playing actively anymore with occasional login for bonus and maybe aiming to get an extra girl with daily login if you still don't have her.

And even when more stuff gets released, I would rather compare this game to Aigis - approximately the same kind of thing of logging in for 10-15 minutes is enough to beat the stages you need for at least next 10 hours if you want to. Just login, take rewards, play your energy bar and no need to worry about the timers.
Also same as aigis in the matter of game focusing on the single player, although arena and coop plays are in the plan according to devs.

The scenes are really beautiful and every girl feels this custom made feeling instead of heavy copy pasting and recoloring loads of other arts on nutaku give.
I wouldn't say the game is great, but it's certainly worth a try. Can easily play both this and aigis at the same time and still have a load of your free time IRL.

A lot of what you just said means one should in fact get discouraged, albeit for entirely different reasons.

All I heard was 'They have done absolutely fuckall with the extra time they've taken, and this game never should've passed beyond internal alpha testing in this state."

Exactly my thoughts. If they're having this much trouble, then they should've put this game in closed beta, and disabled purchasing with real money. This whole thing just stinks and I don't doubt it won't get released to the general public (or they will re-release it in a different form, disallowing those who are already progressed from participating in that release)

    Element buildings

For what it's worth, max level for 'element buildings' is level 10. There's a bit of a jump between 9 and 10 too.

    Level 9:
    - +125% element damage
    - 125k gold to upgrade
    - 7 days build time to upgrade

    Level 10:
    - +200% element damage
    - 250k gold to upgrade
    - 14 days build time to upgrade

I'm a F2P player and bought the multiple upgrade thing from the gem store for 1200, running the Hard boss zones 1/day and doing Quests for gems (still over 1300 left) will generally be enough to pay for the upgrades. I've got three different ones upgrading to 10 right now, one's still on 9 and the last one finished upgrading already. Once that's done all that's left is item storage and such so i guess that's the end of silver as a useful resource aside from Skill upgrades. Hard to beat a +75% damage boost though, and it should affect their attack skills as well.

Something to keep in mind if anyone else is considering buying the Multiple Upgrades thing. I can't be arsed to wait two weeks for a building to upgrade so i picked it up, but YMMV.
