Yep yep! Really it's all written down among the NOTIFICATIONS, under [Event "Secret Mission! Search for Hermits from Unknown Lands!" Now Open!], with all the detailed information about the event.
By the way, shout out to who still has not noticed yet about the serial code that you can enter to gain several rewards. Also for that, further information can be found down under the NOTIFICATIONS. ^.^

Does somebody here know if the medals you have in excess will get reset back to 0 by the end of this event (Secret Mission! Search for Hermits from Unknown Lands!)? Or will it be possible to save them for after?

if you go into the medals tab, it'll have a date period on the bottom. in this case it says feb16 - feb29.
so that's how long it'll be before the medals disappear or get reset.

mine reset from the first one (event). but it seems like the medals seem to stay for 1 more event after the event you gather them in. I could be wrong, but that's what has happened so far.

but since it shows dates down there, I'd say that would be your best bet to follow.
