Is it worth having Anzu as my main Eidolon or is the increased drop rate to small to bother?

Anzu is worth it for the gems that will inevitably come your way. The increased drop rate is unverified.

Basically, there's no real math to be found anywhere on it, and we're all too lazy to record enough runs to make it statistically significant. The rule of thumb is that if you can do the mission without needing extra stats, you might as well slot Anzu in and hedge your bets.

For reference, my entire friends list is one SSR eidolon that fits my team or any Anzu user I can sneak up on.

Depends on you if you find the time thats spent on pressing snatch less worthy than the abysmal drop rate up of snatch itself. Was normally not using the snatch but phoenix has my 2 strong elements, therefore i'll use every opportunity to get better pho.
