After having been turned into a cumpire, he hid from his lover Yuuta, worried he wouldn’t be able to accept him the way he was now. But he was never far. Makai’s heart beats only for Yuuta. Their bond is his anchor, his hope, and the only thing that can convince him that even as a cumpire, he can still allow himself pleasure.

Makai has grey hair instead of blonde, and rather than yellowish, his outfit is mainly blue in color. Both are men who was turned into something else, a vampire for Mika, and for Makai is a cumpire. But despite their change, Makai only ever thinks of Yuuta, like Mika is to Yuichiru, and eventually got reunited. While Yuu and Mika's relationship is still ambiguous, Yuuta and Makai are explicitly a couple in GH. Makai's last name, is based on Mikaela's original surname, before he was adopted into Hyakuya orphanage.
