Summon effect is far more useful in typical situations
Passive is also usually better except for when one has low assault. And in the cases when one wants a +assault eidolon, one prefers a 40% assault/20% HP eidolon. The +20% to burst streak passive doesn't do much*

*It's not an increase to burst damage, it's specifically an increase to burst streak damage.
Burst streak damage is a percentage of the sum of burst attack damage dealt that turn, if more than 1 character bursted.
If it is a full burst, burst streak is 50% of that damage.
+20% to burst streak would turn that 50% to (50%*1.2) = 60%, ie an increase of 10% of the sum of burst damage.

For a baseline example, let's say that everyone involved is a 3* SR, including the soul wielding a 3* SR weapon. Each person's burst is then basically 3.5 times their regular attack damage plus 2000. To keep it simple, let's assume that everybody's atk is roughly the same. So a full burst would be 5 of such burst attacks. That's 17.5 times regular attack damage plus 10k. 10% of that would be 1.75 regular attacks plus 1k.

An upper end example would be everyone involved being a 3* SSR, with the soul wielding a 3* SSR weapon (but no awakened kamihime in this instance). For the soul, the burst attack's 4.5x + 2500. For the kamihime, it's 5x + 2500 each. Full burst adds up to 24.5x regular attack damage plus 12.5k. 10% of that would be 2.45x regular attacks plus 1,250.

Also, since it's thunder, I'm assuming that the vast majority of people will be running a +assault eidolon of some sort, as we have yet to get a +thunder event eidolon. So without knowing specifics, +thunder gacha eidolon should be in higher demand overall at this time.

Well, not counting Phoenix of course. But the number of people running Phoenix as opposed to swapping over to some other light eidolon has gone down a lot after Sphinx/St. Nicholas and will probably continue to go down after Barong.

Takemikazuchi has a better effect but I feel many people still don't know the difference between character element atk and element atk. Wind and Dark already have Icarus and Jack o Lantern, making it unlikely to look for her using those teams, so unless you have a decently high break Take, people will generally just grab whatever looks like it has higher value, which would be Girim with 50% at no break, more than any thunder event eidolon at full break.

A sad state of affairs to be certain, I guess I'll use Giri until I get a better one for Thunder on display and change to Take for myself

Guys, don't underestimate how much of a difference 20% make. To leave a few examples (adding ~130% stamp for a decent late game grid comparison, break even point for Takemikazuchi to surpass Girimehkala):

    Ele advantage:
    1) with 40/20 char atk eidolon: break point: 100% assault, at 130%: 1.8% damage difference
    2) with 40% ele atk eidolon (phoenix, thunderbird): break point: 210% assault, at 130%: -4.5% difference
    3) Kirin .. like any Kirin would ever use Take

No ele advantage (why would you ever play thunder vs. neutral element unless you got Kirin):
    4) with 40/20 char atk eidolon: break point: 30% assault, at 130%: 9.7% damage difference
    5) with 40% ele atk eidolon (phoenix, thunderbird): break point: 135% assault, at 130%: -0.3% difference
    6) Kirin: break point once again above 230% assault

In the end, the most common situation for high ranked people with good thunder grids would probably be 1) in which case, Take would be slightly better, followed by 2) in which case Giri would be significantly better. The better active is a bit of a plus for Take, but unless the majority of your friendlist is r90+, Giri is the better choice in my opinion. She might be slightly worse for some, but a lot better for others and if you and your friends are still newer, then she's pretty much always quite a lot better.

But if you consider the break points above, you should be able to form your own opinion on what fits best for you currently.

There's another wrinkle: Takemikazuchi cuts down the worst case scenario of full bursting every 10th turn to every 9th turn. So your long term DPS estimates aren't as simple as usual.

And in the event +assault is preferred, Sandalphon/Yggdrasil is also an option. It gets a bit complicated since the 10% edge in character atk that a 0* Girimehkala has over them is partially negated by the difference in raw atk then multiplied by 1.1. Then it's a question of the utlity of +20% HP, which in itself varies in impact since it stacks additively with defender effects.

And speaking of the general population being not necessarily mechanically savvy, I think that the one person with Kirin on my list switched to Meng Huo today o.o

    Phoenix exists.

With her glorious 1k base attack.
