You don't ask if it's worth you just take SSR fodder especially if it's a crap one.
In hindsight, "almost no one" is a pretty bad statement on my part, considering I up and forgot I myself said "SL2 SSR weapons alone could up SL29 to SL30".

That being said, I don't find maxing a 4LB weapon as tough as some would imagine. A sufficiently hardcore player currently (I define those as joining every ragna raid they see and clearing at least 4/6 of the elements every day) should be able to collect more than enough fodder for 1 or 2 skill ups per day, and that's notwithstanding the amount you get from events, especially raid events, where even the person who just clears the bare minimum could easily get 20-ish weapons out of the raid gacha.

A matter of patience in my eyes, but I do take back the statement on the SSR, one should definitely go for it.

A game's life expectancy can also be judged by the quality and timeliness of support provided. Major bugs are getting fixed quickly, often within a day of complaints. Towards end of life, support will diminish as cashflow dwindles and the company determines that those resources could be put to better use elsewhere.

Based on these indicators, I'd say the game has at least a year of life ahead of it, barring a major kerfuffle like DMM and Nutaku having a fall-out and Nutaku refusing to share their user database (so data could be migrated to new servers).
That last part confuses me kinda, I don't deal with corporate issues all that well. How does migrating data to new servers affect the game, and how is the game affected if nutaku refuses to?
