The problem with the Lance is that it has no HP. This makes you extremely squishy. So running 5x Lance + Phantom Lance + 3x Axe would not be a bad thing...
... if you could somehow fit and Exceed or two in there. But Water has always had Exceed trouble, even more now that Sloth isn't available.
