hard to say since there are too many platinum units. and more often than not they're used because they're good at their class. so they're largely affected by whether their class is used or not.
for example, bowriders are hardly used aside from Rion. same goes for bandits, pegasus riders, mages (in favor of bishops except estelle and moldevort), rogues, and so on.
