Sure, initial deploy requires mincosted maxlevel bronze soldier, but after that it is a smooth sailing, even with zero other mincosteds.
My strategy:

  1. Bashira on O
  2. Spica on P
  3. bronze soldier on D-E (depending on where enemy soldier is at the point) - withdraw him after he finishes his prey.
  4. Wait till archer hits I and drop Prince on it.
  5. Hit Bashira's skill as rogue comes from the east entrance.
  6. Catch mage on K with Kerry.
  7. Betty on H - and withdraw as soon as her Valkyrie is dead.
  8. Fedora on U
  9. Iris on M, Activate Spica's skill when soldiers come from the east entrance.
  10. Bernice on E.
  11. Withdraw Spica when she kills the regular Witch and replace her with Alissa.
  12. Catch Despara with your chosen duelist on B/C (I actually used my Themis for ths, on C. Surprisingly, she held on without any problem!).
  13. Activate Bernice's skill when she is surrounded / when it comes up. Activate Iris's skill as well.
  14. When Despara is gone, withdraw her duelist and drop mage on M.
  15. When two soldier that came from east are shot to death, withdraw Bashira and drop a witch on Q.
  16. Reap the spoils.



Granted, my team is Awakening-ready (max levels, max affection), but still those max-cost golds (and plat archers) can be deployed to deal with threat without much rush. And, as videos prove, you can replace golds (minus Iris) with their silver counterpart without much difficulty.

@unregistered: don't bother with AW orb maps until your team is AW-ready (at least 1 of each core class max level & affection). otherwise you're better off getting more cc'd units to clear event maps anyway
