and the huge waste of stamina for a mere 50% don´t help

Having fun with this one. Picked up a couple of Rikkas early on, a Samurai and have been farming for archers since. Got the 3 I needed to CC Bashira so now I want to stockpile more. Ironically I rolled Lauren from an SP roll. Not sure whether to keep him or not. A male unit is good for male only maps though I could just level up bronze archers.

In the case of Lauren? Depends.

By far he'd only have use for the male only maps supposing you don't have Stray, whom does have a higher attack power than Lauren at the cost of well...cost. Slightly higher but it can still make or break a situation.

In comparison to his fellow silver archers? Spica fodder. Otherwise its just for the sake of completion.

Reason being is that unlike other silver archers his bonus is to HP instead of attack, which would be nice if said archers (Daniela and Soma) didn't already have base HPs higher than his without the stat bonus.

My reasoning is this on why that may be.

If Lauren had the attack trust bonus he'd be VERY close to Daniela in attack power with her affection boost in tow, making him a silver version of Spica in a way. Overall he'd still be crappier then Spica since it takes his ability to come off its initial CD at the same rate it takes to reuse it, but assuming you don't have any higher rarity archers he'd make a good unit to use alongside Daniela and Soma being a middle road choice with his skill.

Why isn't this so? Because of the Elven unit's stat spread. Since he's meant to have a higher attack power at the cost of lower HP base stat wise he's a good archer, but with Daniela and Soma having attack affection boosts they blow his higher base attack out of the water.

But then we have Spica (who is Lauren 2.0 with better affection boosts than him). Given Lauren's treatment, why isn't she given the same? Simple: Most male units are stepping stones for female units.

Most male units are pitifully weaker in some respects to their fellow female units, and are mostly just units you use until you have the female units that take the spot they occupied. It is rare to find a male unit in the higher rarities than gold, which are mostly occupied by the female units.

What to take from this? Use Lauren if you don't have anything better for male only maps, otherwise use those Bronze archers and let Spica feed on Lauren's flesh so she can lv up her own skill since its mostly wasted on Lauren.

you can use him to skill up Spica, he has the same skill
otherwise i don't really see potential for him

That's plain false. Actually some of the male units are quite stronger then their female counterparts.


Let's see :

1. For SIlvers there is lauren , who is a crappy unit , that i agree , valerie that is a crappier then pallis , and now gustav , which is a crappier unit then phyllis.
Other then that , there is Eunice and Mortimer which are arguably better duelists then elaine (i generally trow barbarians and valks in the same pot since they usually fill the same niche , and they both lack a female/male counterpart). Also the 2 pirates that i haven't used or maxed yet to decide. Varette has a much better skill , but her aff bonus is hp and her base is damage is considerably lower then giovani. I'd say , it's a toss between the 2.

2. Golds : we got Stray , which is a better archer then silvers , and a worse archer then plats , which is obvious. Garret which is an obvious downgrade to bernice , Conrad which is probably the best gold duelist (outclassing kerry and themis >> but themis is special since she is a princess). There is also kojuro (which i can't compare with any samurai since i've never used 1. Still he should be better then sanosuke - forgot about it at silvers - and worse then higher rarity , which is normal) and jullian , which is a worse version of Aria/Katie. Also that male gold healer , which for some reason i can't remember his name. Gets weaker healing because of his aff bonus , but is tankier , which can be helpfull at times , but overall , is a weaker ability user then Iris , but is generally equal with fedora , since his skill is better then hers imo.

3. Platinum (this is the rarity were males start getting pretty good) : We have jerome , which is arguably the best soldier in the game , and Gellius which is arguably the second best tank in the game (actually , during the duration of his skill is definetly better then even deine which is a black). Other then that , We have Marius , that is decent at both roles he does , for the sole reason that he gets def/attack aff bonus , and the fact that he's an elf that gets increased attack points at the cost of life (which don't really matter as much for ranged units)


All in all , there are both better male units and worse then female units. And personally , i'd rather we get more guys , for the single reason that i like their aff stories more then random sex scenes that give almost 0 insight on the character or the game background.

mehliss has a better skill IMO , but in terms of dps , both cyrus and barba blow her away , for the single reason that most of the times u will use mages , is when there are many clustered enemies. Doing 500 damage to 8 enemies instead of 4 can mean quite a lot. That being said , their damage drops a lot when there aren't many clustered enemies. Still they both have higher base stats , so it's generally a toss between them . depending on what you preffer

To add in - Barbastroff is the highest dps gold mage and he only recently became worse for me since i have both Odette and Garania now which are both plat units.

Mind you I did say most. Not all.

I am aware that there are male units that are on par with female units in terms of strength/use (Hell its partially why I look forward to seeing the platnium aura thing in premium summons since there is a chance it might BE Gellius, other than possibly getting Sherry <3), but there aren't a whole lot of them in comparison to the female units.

to be fair , it's not even the most. It's generally just the silver archer/soldiers , and the gold tank/soldier. That's all. Other then that , all the male units are at least on equal footing or actually better. That being said , i do agree that there are very few male units , and that we need more
