Most male units are pitifully weaker in some respects to their fellow female units, and are mostly just units you use until you have the female units that take the spot they occupied. It is rare to find a male unit in the higher rarities than gold, which are mostly occupied by the female units.

What to take from this? Use Lauren if you don't have anything better for male only maps, otherwise use those Bronze archers and let Spica feed on Lauren's flesh so she can lv up her own skill since its mostly wasted on Lauren.

That's plain false. Actually some of the male units are quite stronger then their female counterparts.


Let's see :

1. For SIlvers there is lauren , who is a crappy unit , that i agree , valerie that is a crappier then pallis , and now gustav , which is a crappier unit then phyllis.
Other then that , there is Eunice and Mortimer which are arguably better duelists then elaine (i generally trow barbarians and valks in the same pot since they usually fill the same niche , and they both lack a female/male counterpart). Also the 2 pirates that i haven't used or maxed yet to decide. Varette has a much better skill , but her aff bonus is hp and her base is damage is considerably lower then giovani. I'd say , it's a toss between the 2.

2. Golds : we got Stray , which is a better archer then silvers , and a worse archer then plats , which is obvious. Garret which is an obvious downgrade to bernice , Conrad which is probably the best gold duelist (outclassing kerry and themis >> but themis is special since she is a princess). There is also kojuro (which i can't compare with any samurai since i've never used 1. Still he should be better then sanosuke - forgot about it at silvers - and worse then higher rarity , which is normal) and jullian , which is a worse version of Aria/Katie. Also that male gold healer , which for some reason i can't remember his name. Gets weaker healing because of his aff bonus , but is tankier , which can be helpfull at times , but overall , is a weaker ability user then Iris , but is generally equal with fedora , since his skill is better then hers imo.

3. Platinum (this is the rarity were males start getting pretty good) : We have jerome , which is arguably the best soldier in the game , and Gellius which is arguably the second best tank in the game (actually , during the duration of his skill is definetly better then even deine which is a black). Other then that , We have Marius , that is decent at both roles he does , for the sole reason that he gets def/attack aff bonus , and the fact that he's an elf that gets increased attack points at the cost of life (which don't really matter as much for ranged units)


All in all , there are both better male units and worse then female units. And personally , i'd rather we get more guys , for the single reason that i like their aff stories more then random sex scenes that give almost 0 insight on the character or the game background.
