also another thing, now units have a chance to get hurt after a battle and you will not be able to use them for 8 hours, really annoying

shame that they destroyed Amelia, she went from the best captain into one of the worst
Ah, yeah, you just get the Nari so late in the game that leveling her to be decent is a pain in the ass... but I agree that she is great as well, yeah.

And the whole artificial difficulty out of those wait times is just plain bullshit tbh... but then again - you beat it and there is nothing left to do...
But with the new injury system I can imagine the game being completely frustrating for new players... you pretty much are doomed to have 1/2 stars on most missions simply because your non main team is like lvl 2 vs enemy lvl 4+ and abilities suck as well...

But at least it promotes using at least 1 substitute for each hero I suppose.

What I currently use as main/substitute is:

    1) Karina/Amber - karina is just great overall and amber.. well, she was with you longest so she is probably lvl 3 or 4 at the very least and even though she is kinda meh, but upgrading commander is expensive and it gives most stats out of each level, so going for others is kind of moot point, since karina is better as main anyway and substitute commander is otherwise very hard to get into the same power tier if you get it late, heck Karina alone is expensive.

    2) Nari/Catherine great as captain - Nari shows up kind of late(lvl 45 if I am not mistaken) but if you level her, she is definitely worth it. Catherine again starts early with you, so probably a high level.. same as commander - captains are still expensive to level up, so better sticking to one early if possible.

    3) Astrid is obvious main, as for substitute, not really sure all either have good ability or good passive, but not really any good combination of 2, if you simply want cheap heavy tank - may lvl 2 is good to pick. Damage to 3+ units isn't exactly bad, if you could choose target, but as it's random, I would suggest against it - usually not enough impact to matter where you need it to. Theoretically it's more value than a heavy tank, but practically heavy tank will just destroy much more units by itself and remain standing.

    4) Nami/Wanda - you get them early, cheap to level, great to have, an extra mid tank. I suggest waiting on upgrading to level 3 until you can instant level 4 because RNG with that can screw you out of guaranteed mid tank.
