Event Battles

There are different types of time limited event. They are usually 7 days long, but could be shorter.

Most of these either guarantees enough fragments to unlock a new unit (character events) or some special fragments for the special fragments gacha.

This guide offers a way to determine if an event can be completed by a player within the time it's available for.
Effectiveness is also dependent on one's judgement.

Expectations

Before going any further, having the right expectations is necessary for this guide to be useful, as it's possible for a player to discover that they cannot complete an event.

Given the current style of events, newcomers should generally not expect to complete this kind of events.
A player is expected to have their units increase in power over time from clearing the story missions.

Furthermore, the introduction of a limited selection of units for character events means that without having a good variety of units built up, it is very possible that a player's strongest units is unable to participate in an event. This said, it's still possible to grind up a new team to clear the team, perhaps with the use of some revives.

Being strongly opinionated about how the game should run its events will not help a player in completing an event; please post constructive feedback to the respective #feedback or #suggestions channels in Discord.

Remember that without trying, there's no chance of completing an event at all.

If a player wishes to insist on sticking to their own ideals, this guide will not help these players and they can stop reading here.

Estimating power levels

The first thing to do in any mission, event or not, the first thing to do is to examine the enemies.

Preview the enemy AI team lineup by opening up the event mission and clicking/tapping on each enemy unit to check their stats. Another very important thing is to check the units' skill in the Codex. If the enemies are Silver stars with only one first skill, they are a lot easier to beat than enemies with Gold stars with a second or even third skill (embossed Gold stars).

Next is to check the units a player has available to them for tackling the event. If this available units are rarely used or under built (no/weak nanochips and not max-ed level), grinding them up before attempting the event is a straight must. Otherwise, a player should have some familiarity with the capabilities (damage output, survivability) of their units.

It will take time to build up the ability to estimate the power level of a team, so always consult the Discord channel if in doubt.

Based on the player's estimate of their own team against the enemy team, a player should now be able to decide if they are ready to attempt an event battle or not.

Testing waters

Estimation is nice, but trial and error is ultimately the way to clearing the battle with at least one unit surviving.

Assuming a player is unable to clear a battle, consider the following:

1. Which round did the player lose without reviving?
- Losing before the 3rd round is a good indicator that the current player team is too weak to have a good shot at clearing the battle.

2. Which enemy unit(s) is giving the player the most trouble?
- The enemy lineup is randomised, except for one special unit that appears in the third round; if only one enemy unit is giving a player problems, trying again with less or none of that unit type appearing can turn a hard battle into an easier one.

- It's also possible to pick a team that is good at clearing one type of enemy, and attempting the battle till most of the enemies are of that type.

- This is not possible if the enemy lineup is mostly the same unit type.

3. Which unit(s) on the player's team is not performing as well as expected?
- If a player's attacking unit is dying too quickly, they might need to have a unit bait damage away from the attacker.

- If a player's bait unit is not taking or surviving as much damage as it needs to, the player should consider changing that unit's nanochips or switching it out for another.

If a player loses a battle horribly, and it's not the final event battle, that is a good indicator that a player is too underpowered to complete the event.

Again, there are many things to consider. If a player lacks the experience to decide for themselves, consult the Discord channel with the relevant information from the battle attempt.

Revival

Revive is an option only available to event missions at the time of this guide being written.

(Following paragraph is based on memory of Revive, any player with more accurate information, please provide a screenshot for this part)
Using a Revive will bring all units back to full health, reset their skill cooldowns (able to use all available skills on their next turn), and retain their turn bar before death (if a unit is a short time away from their next move, they only need to wait a bit).

The cost of Revive works like this: 30 Gems * Number of times defeated
i.e; first Revive costs 30 gems, second Revive costs 60 gems, third Revive costs 90 gems, and so on.

Generally, the more a player uses Revive, the more it's going to cost them.

This guide recommends no more than two Revives for a single battle.

If a player cannot complete the first round, do not Revive.
If a player barely makes it to the second round with one unit surviving, do not Revive.
Only consider using a Revive if near completing the second round of battle or making it to the third round.

Another thing to note is that using one Revive doesn't mean using a second Revive guarantees success.
If a team makes it into a round in a good state (skills ready to use, has most of their health), but gets promptly wiped out by the enemy, that is a sign using a Revive is a very bad idea since the team is not able to do much to the enemy.

Consulting the Discord channel when this happens is always a good idea, but if unable to, consider giving up to cut losses.

To grind, or not to grind

Depending on the state of a player, without paying for power in particular, is to decide whether to grind up a suitable team for clearing the event or not.

Generally, if a player has little time to commit, grinding is not feasible unless the player is not far off from completing the event battles as is. Also, as said in the beginning, a new player is very unlikely to succeed at grinding up to clear an event without paying.

Some points to consider are:

1. How many available unit types of the ideal element do the player have?
- Ideal element means having an element that deals more damage to the enemy lineup, or takes less damage from it.

- The more ideal units available for the event that the player has, the more likely it is worth it to focus on leveling up and gathering nanochips to improve the performance of these units.

2. Are the units ideal for the event farmable by the player?
- Each story mission has a drop chance for a unit type of a certain element. If the player has that mission unlocked, it's possible to grind on it to attempt to get an ideal unit.

- Doing this also takes time, so grinding up other ideal units to their max level (or tier up) is strongly advised.

In the end, it's possible that grinding up to clear the event is not feasible.
If so, skipping the event is also a good way for a player to focus on generally strengthening their team; farming higher tier nanochips instead of ideal units.

Conclusion

Event battles with a limited unit selection is heavily dependent on a player's variety of units, and how well equipped they are at the point of the event being released.

More time (or money) investment in the game for a new player will be significantly beneficial for being ready for events. The less a player puts in on a regular basis, the longer it will take for them to be able to reliably complete events.

It can be better to skip event(s) to expand the unit types a player has, their units' levels/stars, and the quality of their nanochips; since they will be in a better position sooner for the next event.

A player can recommend other ways to run events, but till then, working around the event format is the best way to get the most out of them.
