They're not all that esxpensive actually. I'd have bought 100 of them if I only had enough currency left over from the Niddhoggr event.
I'm sitting on 90-something of them now.

On a different note, for those interested in the newest Aqua Shadow stages - if you want your teams to catch the boosts before the shadows,
modify your squads to have approximately these speeds:

1 - 822
2 - 566
3 - 570
4 - 450

The first squad will then be the one to use these boosts, so either make sure it is strong enough to put them to good use, or weak enough to only use one of them and pass them over to the next squad (if you have problems achieving that speed with a strong squad).

EDIT:
Interestingly enough, these speeds work fine only on the web version.
On the mobile version one pink boost gets taken by a shadow team.
It seems the item collision works a bit differently on the mobile version.

I don't know, just buying what's available in the various shops. I did have enough to buy one from the Niddhoggr shop, though. I remember that one
