Pretty much. The entire story is just you going around performing a medical procedure that turns people into weapons like some sort of hillbilly-probing alien.

Also, the second day I've spent all my AP on the Isabel event and gotten no shards so I'm just about done with the whole fucking thing.

Is it worth me focusing my efforts on leveling Claire, or should I be picking a different, more combat oriented person? My only 3* people are Claire, Trisha, and Isabel, and I hear melee is terrible.

Girls that start at three stars are very difficult to star up further. Those that start at one star let you regularly gain a few shards from normal or friend gacha. Additionally, the girls available in the league, competition, and trial shops don't change, so if you focus on one of them (or rather, one for each shop), that's what you can reliably star up to higher levels. You'll generally get league shop points much faster than either of the others, and competition shop points faster than trial shop.

Probably a stupid question that's already been answered, but why do people do the lvl 30 raids instead of the lvl 10 ones? From what I've seen they cost twice as much to run, but give far less than twice the rewards. I'll admit I haven't done any long term tracking, but it seems like any improvement in the odds of shards dropping instead of friendship points are marginal, at best. Are they just doing it because they never tried the lvl 10 ones, and don't realize that the picture is wrong and it drops purple stuff just like the lvl 30 raids?

Well it's not much of a reason, but the fact that there are less people opening rooms means they fill up faster. Trying to spend all your raid points in raid 10 while everyone else is doing the same is a damn chore.

It's strange, but I think my biggest complaint about how the raid system works is how short the timeout is once the 3 "helpers" confirm they are ready. I'll be waiting for a few minutes, look away to do something on my other monitor/phone, look up to see 3 ready, move my mouse over to enter battle, and it'll kick me out before I get there.

Really need an option for the starter to "ready up" as well. Or other players need to learn not to ready up until it becomes obvious the leader isn't forcing the match. The leader can trigger the fight at any time, doesn't need to wait for the ready up. "Ready" is more a vote of non-confidence that the leader isn't coming back. You ready up to get the time-out so you don't queue into the same room with a leader who is completely out of it.

all raids can drop shards for purple equipment, regardless of what it says...

they might do it cause the drop rate is higher, but i don't really know. i can't speak for others...

if you're not doing at least the lv30 fight, don't count on it...

the easiest fight is a book farming stage cause I've NEVER seen a shard drop there (I feel like it's less than 1% chance there)

I'm at 49/50 Isabel (Isabelle? I wish they'd proofread at least on important stuff like character names.) shards from farming just the easiest stage. I'm unable to complete the second stage...maybe I'm doing something wrong but the trash mobs on it take a good chunk of my HP before I even get to the boss. I couldn't even cheese it with a high-level ally.

Doing it this way won't be for everyone, because I've sunk every single AP since the start of the event on that one fucking stage to get there, but it can be done. But on the plus side, I've got nearly every character maxed from all the books.
