It comes down to preference I think to some degree. I personally want a heavy armor that takes hits though having one deal them out is good in some situations. Again to reiterate, Maribel is a good choice when she is fully maxed out and awakened. You can even have her skill be under-powered because it always doubles attack and defense.

The key thing that is preventing me from fawning over her (which I would in other situations) is that she is difficult to get a hold of. Last I checked, drop rates for any event farming are rather atrocious. I have been trying to farm for mages in the last event for nearly its entirety and I only got two, and that was for two weeks where this is for one only.

TLDR: Maribel is a good choice of unit. However she would be difficult for some players to max out and that would take time. Early players should rather focus on other units for either defense or attack and have Maribel be a long time project until she is usable.
Maribel shines most when ranged spots are at a premium, so it's not so easy to back up Bernice/Gellius with ranged damage dealers and still have a healer. Both of those (and Deine obviously, but that's a given) outclass her in doing the HA's job but those two have crappy damage output and thus it's useful to have a blocker who can hit hard. That said, she still needs her skill to do that as well, and if you're saving it for Aura'd wolves or something, her Attack is decent without it but you're better off using an AW samurai instead if you have one. Maribel is for those moments where you need decent damage output without backup while having the survivability to tank a few heavy hitters (ones that will overwhelm healers trying to keep up samurai or advance guards)

This event has pretty standard drop rates AFAIK (50% on last map) so it's not particularly hard to min-cost, 4/5 her (use rainbows for last skill level). 60 Cha/6 Sta isn't as bad as some event maps have been and the maps are rofl-easy unless you're fairly new so farming can begin from day 1 and last through Day 14. Even without SC use (some item farm events come to mind as essentially REQUIRING SC use to max the event unit) it's not unreasonable to think those who want a min-cost, 3/5 or better Maribel by event end will have it (barring downright terrible luck)
