Well, you can use your name to send short (20 characters only!) messages to your allies.
But it's not always very efficient :



You can also use this technique with other message, for example :
"flink 1 week off" if you can't log for a while.
It's sometimes usefull.


Note : The name takes some time to change (sometimes 1h).
