It's more probable that DMM used some kind of version/source control software throughout the development of FKG, and that Nutaku simply updates the version they use every week.

Probably, yes, and it'll probably happen during the same event where it happened on DMM.

Easier to do that than back port the newest version which would contain a lot of breaking changes.
