Of course, I always go with my main team and try to kill the boss if the timer is running out.

Basic rule of thumb, AFAIK, is you hit with a single Knight (2* is preferred but no single knight is going to do THAT much damage to a high level raid boss) unless:
1) Timer's about to run out or
2) Super Raid Boss (these guys have like 12M HP and only stay up for 15 minutes)

Spend 160 stamina to get a whopping 7 baby dragons, and one 3*dragon....$^&# you!!! Seriously though, putting low level chests in a high stage is so frustrating.
