I have a hunch that the ship uses special attacks like the girls use theirs and if you have skill up girls in squad 1 it helps.... have not really tried this except that I have 2 x 1.2 skill girls in my team 1 for each colour I think and seem to get plenty of special attacks.

I don't think girls abilities affect the ship, I've had one like that, just kept gunning the pest while the pest unleashed hell - I'm not proud of it but I ragequit at that point, and did it too soon, meaning I didn't loose the stamina - pure anger and frustration
