Been there, done that. I myself have spent 250 gems also and got no 5* too so I know how you feel bro, you just have to let it go *pat pat* Things will get better eventually (at least thats what i thought)

Just wait for Nutaku to cash in on people's desperations and pay for the guaranteed 6*, it'd probably save you cash compared to buying gems.

I am a premium player, but recently, after many horrible gacha rolls, I have decided to stop buying gems for this game. With all the back-to-back events that we have, we will have a full harem (um...army) of 5* girls in maybe 5-6 months. This will make 93,5% of rolls from the premium gacha a complete waste and garbage.
I find it strange that the premium gacha mechanics, the primary incentive for buying gems, have so bad odds. It is so bad that it have convinces me to become a freemium player. I will maybe buy gems for these guaranted 6* or 5*, but I will not longer flush my money on their gacha, only use free flower gems from events and log-in card on it.

Well they seem to have to follow DMM patern, will be better later in lot of points. They already added some gacha with really good rates for specific 6* and 5*.
I agree too. (I'm a free player). In the end, it's not going to be much of a difference between any kind of player type. Even if future event girls seem purposely weaker (things like +7% atk up instead of 10 like orchid), the lvl 5 skill and 4 equips can probaby offset that weaknesses, potencially making getting 5* from gatcha pretty worthless.
So in the end, about expending in gatcha, i would go with a "collector" approach rather than a power gameing one. Just try to get the unit you want for whatever reason like cool art, sexual fetishs, relaxing voice, whatever, be it hoarding or directly buying. And just be happy if you get her, or groan in pain wasting 105 gems in a 5* just to be bashfully rejected. ;_;
Of course, there's also the option of power gaming by getting 20 6*, but i would rather buy me a house with such a high investment.
I also had a poor run of Gem Pulls I did 3x 50 gem pulls and had only received some 4*, I don't remember the exact number now but think I worked out I was just under average based on %. My most recent pull got me a 5* not one I had been chasing (a character quest one) but at least it was one.
I'm now thinking I'll be saving my gems for the future... power creep should see better girls appearing further down the line.
Don't get discouraged, the odds are indeed sucky, but it'll happen sometime. i've been playing since day 1 as a free player and I believe i've done 6 or 7 10+1 pulls so far and I had never got a single 5* until my last pull where I got 3 at once!
So I guess the lesson is: don't get your hopes up everytime you're about to draw from the premim gacha but keep playing and trying and eventually it'll happen. Also, note that buying gems is a very poor investment since it won't garner you anything for sure, so I'd tell you to not waste your money.

The internet isn't a good source for facts. Anecdotes are just that ... stories. Unless someone backs a claim up with evidence, it's just hearsay, or in other words, complete bullshit.

Unless you're rich and have money coming out of every pore of your skin, $3,000 is NOT "not much". For $3,000, you could buy a fucking top-of-the-line gaming PC, or over 100 titles on Steam, etc. At that point, you're wasting money on what I would consider a crap product, designed solely to funnel cash back to DMM.
