If this keeps happening, I'll have to change permissions so that only specific users are allowed to upload. In the meantime, I'm reuploading my stuff. I might also download everything else I don't have in case a worst case scenario happens; I've lightly suggested people to do the same, even though I haven't done so myself.

Edit: aaaaaand Geranium, Serat and a bunch of other random stuff too.

I'll reupload Cattleya along with Gerbera, German Iris, Dahlia, Oxalis, and Camellia in a few hours. In the meantime, anything you can do to stop randoms from deleting the videos, Corintis? Is it possible to allow uploads and downloads but not deleting without permission? I'm not too familiar with Google Drive :S

I wish I could do something as convenient as that, but the best I can do is restrict specific people the general populace from taking any actions.

In such an inconvenient situation, people will have to start PMing me their email addresses just to get permission to upload.

I think best bet would be simply moving to a different site. Maybe MEGA? Folders are download only by default, and it seems to be a go-to site for uploading... well, pretty much anything for quite some time.

Btw, doesn't locking Google Drive folder also make it view only, restricting downloading unless given permission?

I also use MEGA, but to rely on that's no different, if not worse than the alternative of restricting access on Drive. Drive's just a ton more convenient for everyone, since not only does everyone already have google accounts, it doubles as a multimedia platform and wiki site. You don't even have to download anything if you don't want to if you just wanna peruse through those files.

That's the problem with torrent websites, being download only. For the sake of downloading a collection from a single collaborator at a time, that's fine, but that's all it does. It's harder for people to coordinate and pool together their clips for the massive audience and you don't really know what you're actually downloading until it's on your hard drive.

As you mentioned, Google Drive folders can be restricted to view, but the situation is actually reversed; people can still download files, but you just can't upload anything without being a folder admin. So if we continue to have these problems, this'll be what I'll resort to.

I figure I should mention this but my video capturing program is kinda crap so I've been try to upload the images for the girls that have their vids on the drive but not their pictures yet. So far I've added Rose, Anthurium, and Cymbidium.

Why not some sort of porntube then? As there's little need to download stuff for most viewers anyway...

That's........actually a feasible idea. On further thought, any video hosting site would fit the bill. The one draw back is that the video navigation could turn into a semi mess of url links and playlists, but it'd definitely eliminate our most recent issue. I actually gave that idea a quick thought before starting this thread.

As we stand now, we'll just have to see if our problem ever resurfaces again and if it should, ask ourselves if we wanna be responsible for coordinating our video links and for uploading our clips onto a hosting site onto our own separate accounts. That, versus keeping our current setup, but sending our email addresses to myself, or another designated admin, for permission to upload and edit files.

Thanks. I'm lazy and find just recording and uploading a single video a hassle enough, so that's a technical burden off my shoulders.
