This does not amplify the Solar Blast you manually activate. This is a special - and additional attac your Whaleship performs - it looks like over charged SB, but its extra.
So you still get your two WS attacks, your charged SB and this special Rainbow Beam, which occours whenever the Boss meter at the botom is filled up (when you hit the boss the meter fills up slightly).
The units picked for this combo attack are random, and as such its highly advised to have only max lvl girls in your WS team (super whales bunch of * of every type have the massive advantage here of course), and during this 1 round every girls is guaranteed to use her Ult. / Active / Special skill - whatever you prefer to call it.

In DMM just this month few more additions have been done to the Whaleship (chance for extra defense shield or extra mini laser beam insead of normal attack), but that being a new thing, its not to come for some time still.

No, I understand how the thing with the Crystal Charge room and subsequent Howling Cannon works, I'm saying that in addition to that, the whaleship normal Solar Blast has been updated to count the number of girls alive on the whaleship (max at 45x) and does a lot more damage now:

solar blast now actually has a meaningful use in whale, good god.

Is the description for the Venerable Red Earrings correct? It says slice attribute increased by 32%. Necklaces say 3%. Is one of these wrong? Both correct? Seems quite disparate bonuses.

Earrings are 2%

They're still good earrings, lvl 1 stats already have 400 ATK, which is more than the silver gacha seed earrings have at lvl 40, and way more than event earrings have at lvl 40.
So, obviously, I'm grinding to make Fritillaria even more overkill than she already is.
