No, way more simple than that - I've just run the 6-4 map and 5-5 map and compared the amount of medals received.
The ones you're comparing are only the one-time rewards for the full mission clear.

I have added the rewards for missions 6 as soon as I finished them

You can also buy coins with sun medals ^^
Not enough for a bloom, but it helps.
