take it from someone actually designing their own game (using RPG Maker MV). You really have to test out as much as possible that's affected with the slightest change, cause something real simple like changing the character's name does way more than you'd think.
granted, it's possible to overlook something... but you know it's pretty bad when it seems like you've broken the majority of the game with one slight change and it looks like there's been little to no effort to fix it.
coding and such can be hard, but when you have the tools and templates, it's not as hard as you'd think
