So is it better to run 1-1 / 1-2 and spawn the garden, or is it more worthwile going with 1-4 in the long run ?

Pentas eyes bother me

took me a few tries to get Map 3 done - had to switch units - the ones who are going for the ring - I put slow units since for some reason, RNG lucky they get pass thru easily before the top squad can make it to the boss from above

ran out of stamina so can't do map 4 yet

Odd. I did map 3 in first try with a mix of 400 to 600 squads evenly spread by starting spots on default (aka each spot got 1 fast and 1 slow squad + helper in one). And top team reached the joint point before ring squads even unlocked RNG node.

I failed thou on the 4th map. No RNG there, just that somehow faster teams ended on top line near the end and reached end flag before any team on the bottom reached their boss.

I will wait till day reset before I burn stamina dou, as I finished all daily quests for today, so would rather wait till next dailies .

i got all maps done first try, and my first squad is 800 speed (the rest are like 400-500).

Yea, had a few try, but was going to be farming it alot anyway, so was not really worried. Got all chest so did not bother, in the end, one helper squad with huge speed fixed problem, so really do not bother with fixing your squad, just get really fast helper, or a non-friend if you do have friend helper fast enough.
